Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: New 3DS Improvements

A second analog stick is not going to be that important.  If you want to play a FPS stick to an XBOX or COM.  As long as the one stick is better than the PSP one (man, I hate that thing), it should be fine.

Remember, magic is just stuff science has not made boring yet.

Yes, they should add skype and flash support....for the rest I'm ok with the current one.

About skype, I would be cool to make it run optionally even when the console is in stanby mode, it could ring like a phone when someone calls you, also with the touch-screen below you could play some multiplayer basic games (like chess , tris or battleships) while chatting. It could even work as a way to invite friends playing online normal games.

This ^ Now that would bean excellent idea. I can see that fitting perfectly.

So we can agree that both screens should be the same size.

Second analog sucks, you have a TS. TS >>>>>>> second analog> i have no idea why it would be a good idea
Phone element is no go. It's not a phone. Nintendo would get wasted if they added cell phone
With the power of the 3DS Skype would be easy. Maybe Skype should do it. Why should Nintendo do it?
I would prefer http 5 with webGL kit than flash. Flash is shitty, but it's still a very dominant web tool :(
More effort to get both screens together.
Higher quality shoulder buttons.
Video Chat for sure

those are the only elements I would like to see based on what we know.

^^^^^^^
It might be doable to have Skype in the background. Sort of. From what we know the 3DS may run an anchor system for applications to have  automatic updates, informations and tag mode. All a Skype app would need to have is an anchor that informed the user that when it queries online whenever it can. An update that says someone is calling/called x time ago. User can then launch Skype manually and connect if they are still available. It's doable, just will not be as responsive as a cell phone.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Youtube on the 3DS would indeed be awesome. Maybe they'll have browser support that will support it. I also don't really like the current design, it looks too much like an original DS, and it's weird that the top screen is bigger than the bottom one. What's it going to look like when there is a game like Yoshi's Island DS that uses both screens as one large gameplay screen? I think two analogue sticks would help, but are not neccesary. The design itself needs a little work, but the game library looks amazing so far, which is what matters most.

I also think a more streamlined unified online service similar to XBL would be cool, where you can access friend's lists easilly and send them messages, maybe even some sort of achievement system, though again, this is not necessary, just a neat little addition.

Edit: Oh yes and one more thing, VITRUAL CONSOLE GAMEBOY/GBA GAMES! Make it happen Nintendo! That way I could finally sell my old GBA and there would no longer be issues of backward compatibility. It would be a machine that can play almost any handheld game (well besides PSP stuff), similar to how the Wii is for console games. $3 for gameboy games, $5 for GBA games. Maybe $8 for some of the bigger ones like Golden Sun, Pokemon.

I just want the outer case to be more aesthetically appealing.

Nintendo could even launch their own "youtube" the host 3D clips. That's be awesome.

Instead of Opera, it should be Google Chrome or Firefox! haha youtube and Nintendo working together for 3D videos? AWESOME! I have Brain Age, the same size screen helps a lot.

Nintendo can't just make the internet faster. I'm not certain what you're asking for.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Sounds nice

1. Cut the front camera and make the 3d camera rotatable on the top. This would save on production costs and make the 3d camera available for the front and back sides.

2. Switch the placement of the slide pad and the d-pad.

3. Move the XYAB buttons down to center between the d-pad and slide pad.

4. What's with the start/home/select buttons?  How are those suppose the be useful? Get rid of those and make the touch screen bigger.

5. Rumble pack? forget that. Vibrating stylus? yes.
