i dont see how my comment was nonsensical at all.  in this country soccer among non immgrant families is generally seen as a childrens game.  thats likely still popular as a childrens game because of the low cost for parents... meaning even the children of poorer families can still participate in sports.  all you need is a ball (or ball like object ie rolls when you kick it) and an open space.

You know what else is cheap? McDonalds. And I guess you're right. That's only eaten by Africans and poor immigrant families.

Now, this I don't agree with.

What? But it's cheap, so poor people can afford it! And it's easy to eat, too!

I'm not poor and I love McDonalds. lol It is cheap, maybe thats why McDonalds supports soccer cause its cheap and nobody likes it?

You're not getting the point here, are you? It's a pretty obvious analogy.

Hint: McDonalds = "Soccer".

So McDonalds sucks so that means soccer sucks as well? lol

Tailoy Swift doesn't fail against Lennon because she's a woman, she fails for the same reason Justin Bieber fails against Madonna.

Seriously though, if you live in the US, there's barely any reason to hate football (soccer). It's not very popular so you can't say it's being crammed down your throat by the media and people around you. You can simply not give a damn and that state would rarely be disturbed. I'm indifferent to it most of the time, just not right now with the WC going on. I'm also indifferent to Taylor Swift most of the time since I'm rarely subjected to her music, videos and others' praising odes.

but if you don't outside it is extremly popular, so it annoys... a lot

Which is why I dislike it, there's too much of it around me right now (and often at other times). OP is in the US though.

Boring to watch but pretty fun to play.

So, let me get this straight.  PS3 hasn't played soccer since he was 10, and feels he's adequately experienced enough to judge the sport?

PS3, let me put this a way you can understand this: What you're doing is like me telling you Taylor Swift sucks without listening to any of her songs.  It's ignorant and it just makes you look stupid.

As a side note, I think I'm one of the few people who enjoy American sports and soccer a lot.

Maybe I kicked a ball last year into a hole... it was rather easy.

It doesn't matter! Talk to Taylors grammy awards and #1 hits.

That's fine if you enjoy it! Good for you I'm happy for you.

Don't you guys see that you're getting baited?

I've argued with Ps3 before, and I wouldn't advise the same for anyone else. It's the same as arguing with Leo-J about music; you'll just be frustrated with their stupid arguments over and over and it will never get anywhere.

If you really want this thread to die, everyone report it and stop posting. Do this, and it will die.

So, Ps3, according to you carrying the ball with the hands requires more skill than with the feet?

Dribbling bouncing a ball with your hands past x number od opponents who will try to take it from you with their hands requires more skill than dribbling with a ball in your feet against x number of opponents who will try to take it from you with their entire body with a good chance of receiving a kick or something worst?

Passing and receiving with hands is harder than with feet?

I won't even mention the difficult of scoring.

No talent at all.

Yes its much harder because its harder to throw a ball into a net from a distance. The legs have so much power and it gives an unfair advantage.

That's your answer? No talent at all? Unfair advantage of the legs? to my knowledge every  player has legs, so where's the unfair advantage?

You know what?, you haven't been able to respond a single counterpoint to your asinine comments, that's fucking trolling. I second kowenicki: ban

Hi Montana. I've missed you. Sadly, you hate my guts though. :'( How are you?

I'm not baiting anything. I disagree that soccer is talented.

I urge a mod to check this thread out and ban the OP... he is clearly looking to cause a row.

If the topic of this was a game or a console and not a sport... and the arguments were the same from the Op then he would be looking at a ban.

why ban the op?

because it's anti-soccer?

**cough** bias **cough***

Its because he is trolling, he is lying and I certainly think those arguments he makes are to provoque, I doubt someone could actually claim football doesnt require talent, his responses dont give arguments either.

And I really doubt Ecuatorian teams only allow black people in their teams, I think its a lie, you should provide a link.

not so literally, but the one from my city tends to like black people in, and to believe in that. not in that extrme but black people here are believed to be better in soccer

Thats because they are better athletes and clubs prefer those, its not racist to prefer taller people for basketball either

I agree with you.. It's a girls game and a chidlrens game in the U.S... Takes almost as much skill as hop skotch.

That is such a horrible word. Yet, people wont call people out who use words like this. I think people here need to stop thinking outside the cliques they have with each other and stop being biased towards other members. Just because I think soccer doesn't require talent or is a girls game doesn't make me stupid.

No, it makes you ignorant. Which is far worse, because stupidity is something you're born with, while ignorance is something you choose.

Look, it's fine for you to have an opinion, if you justify that opinion. You can't just say "SOCCER SUCKS TAYLOR SWIFT ROCKS AND I HATE YOU ALL AND I CAN HAVE AN OPINION LALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!", without people looking down on you.

Again, try playing football, and tell me if it's as simple as kicking a ball across a field. And if it's a girl's game, why is it the most popular sport among men in 90% of the countries of the world?

Your attitude gives a bad name to Americans, because it's the stereotypical American "everything we do is awesome" attitude which I know most people from the USA don't hold. It's fine if you don't like football. Saying it requires no skill is asinine. It's fine if you like Taylor Swift. Saying she is better than the Beatles is asinine. You'd better have some evidence if you want your opinion to be taken seriously.

And for the record, I don't even particularly like football. It's more violent than it has any right to be, and nothing of any interest happens in about 80% of each football match (especially between lousy teams). I really only find it watchable if two fantastic teams are playing, or if a fantastic team is playing a lousy team, or alternatively if I am actively supporting one of the teams. But I don't pretend that it requires no skill. It requires just as much skill as any sport.

I don't hate any of you! OMG no. I just think some people need to stop being so biased because my tastes are so different from their own. You see now?

I have played soccer. It's so not fun and was super easy.

You seem very anti-american. That isn't very nice and that sounds like ignorance to me.

You played soccer at the age of ten. Against ten year olds. Of course it was easy! Fun is subjective; as I said, I don't enjoy playing football. That doesn't mean it doesn't involve skill.

Fun is taste. Skill level requirement is not taste. It's not subjective. I think American Football is a ridiculous sport, but I know it involves a huge amount of skin, and I would get crushed if I tried to play it.

And I'm not anti-American at all. I just don't like the American mentality of "we don't do it, so it sucks". And I say "American mentality" because that's the stereotype.

I'm not going to bother with this thread anymore.

I would suggest though, if you're going to insult the sport that the majority of the world prefers, by calling it a sports "for women and children", I think you have some serious issues.

And I like (OP), how you pull the sex card in some replies before, but you were sexist yourself by pinning football as a minor sport meant for women.

Just give it a thought, I'm sure you'll find the inconsistencies in your own thread of "logic" in your replies in this thread

Well , maybe the world will move on someday.

I said most girls here play it. No men play it in the US.

Really now? I see. I guess MLS doesn't exist and USA didn't just qualify as first in their group on the Football World Cup.

As for your first phrase, the world doesn't need to move on, nor does your opinion need to move on. Everyone likes what they want to like. If the majority of the world likes football so be it. If you don't like it, so be it as well. Just don't go around trying to prove a point you can't prove. I hope that you learn this lesson. It's applicable not only for this thread, but in real life as well
