Forums - Sales - Metroid: Other M sales predictions thread

1,5 Mio will be ok, 2 Mio will be a success (but I don´t think it will reach this number).

I expect it will reach 1.15, less successful than expected, but not that bomb, many people here say it is ^^ That´s all.

I just think, that Metroid usually has legs. In addition to that, this is something NEW, new things always need some time (and have legs, too).

And now lets have a look at the european sales, which are the main reason, Other M sells less. It is a "classic game", looking at the classic game sales in Europe, they never sold that much than the prime series.....

Metroid 2: 0,34

Metroid: 0,34

Metroid Fusion: 0,29

Super Metroid: 0,13

OM: Actually 0,7.( 5k per week at the moment)

I´m sure it will reach 200 -300 k in Europe. In Japan, it will outsell Echoes next week, it already sold more than corruption (!). It is not that bad. And yes, when this game will have legs, it can be successful. It CAN be. I´m not saying that it is or it will be! I just repeat, that we need to wait and dont´t judge too early...

Metroid games do not usually have legs. Corruption sold 90% of all copies that it ever sold after its first nine months on the market.

And as has been pointed out, NPD suggests that VGChartz has overtracked Other M considerably. If this is the case then the game is sitting at about 370k worldwide, rather than 500k. Its American sales, according to NPD, have been as abysmal as its European sales.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Well, we will see...

Week 7 sits at 13,000 units sold worldwide, and he steady drop continues. It may drop below 10k units in the next couple of weeks, which would be pretty bad considering we're headingi nto November.

If this game receives any holiday boost, we'll be seeing it soon.

Unfortunately I have to agree....

I've been hearing a lot of the NPD numbers for Sept10' but no link or proof to back them!  Where are they getting those numbers if NPD doesn't release them anymore?  For now I'll stick with VGC #'s until Nintendo updates their quarterly reports.  I doubt the 170K numbers for both the last wk of August and whole of September seeing Other M ended with a "decent" final pre-order of 152K which usually results (on average)  in a Wk-1 sales of 1.44x the final preorder numbers.  http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/81775/americas-preorders-chart-28-august-2010-metroid-other-m-jumps/

N/E ways 510K worldwide is a decent number and should really bring a decent profit for Nintendo.  Sure it's no Mario or Zelda in terms of sales but selling over half a million copies in less than two months isn't bad considering the AVERAGE development cost of the Wii compared to the other 2 systems.

Mega flop.  Nintendo should pull a Sony and start bundling the thing to move copies.

I don't know why they would bother, when their bundles are based on moving hardware rather than software. The initial Other M shipment will sell out.... I think.

I dunno, a Black Wii with Wiimote Plus and MOM would kinda compliment the Red/NSMB and White/WSR bundles.  A more "core" bundle basically.
