Forums - Sales - Metroid: Other M sales predictions thread

It's nearly at 500K now so it looks like Rol will not get the 13 week prediction, I think I'll get that with 600K. It's not unlikely that Rol will still get the lifetime numbers closest though (as long as it does not pass 825K).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I'm predicting 600K by end of Christmas holiday and maybe 700-800K within a year of release.  Lifetime sales looks to be somewhere between 800K-1M; depends on whether there will be a price cut in Europe for the lack of support in that region!!!

Don't condescend to people in this topic, especially when you're wrong.

Profitability isn't the only thing that determines whether or not Nintendo might back off of a series for a while. They expected Other M to double the sales of Corruption - essentially matching the first Metroid Prime, and even surpassing it.

Source? I read this a lot, but whats your source?

And Team Ninja never sold more than 2 Mio, correct me, if I´m wrong...

I can only repeat myself: Let´s wait and see if this game will have some legs.... Because I think it Will AND it will reach 1 Mio....

All right, those expectations stated here were just that it would surpass Corruption. I'll keep looking for the other.

thanks for the link & answer... (PS, you don´t have to apoligize ^^ that´s the problem when people write nearly the same in 3 different topics)

hmm, sorry for the question, but is he nintendos pr manager in the us? I don´t know him ^^

Comparing the advertisment corruption had, 1,5 - 2 Mioseems realistic...i don´t think they really expected to reach 3 Mio, even if they hoped to higher the metroid fanbase.... No Metroid game sold more than 3 Mio units, Prime was bundled, so it´s a bad comparision... To my mind, other M will be a financial success, but they hoped to reach more people.. They would be lightheaded expecting to reach more...

But I´m still hoping for the christmas sales and strong legs, so that OM reach Echoes (and will be then close to the expectations)....

1,14 Mio is still my expectation ^^

Reggie FIls-Aime is the president of Nintendo of America.

They expected Other M to break the 2 million barrier, in any case.

Oh, thanks ^^

Well, when hey say , 1,5 - 2, that doesn´t mean MORE than 2 ...

From the interviewer "It is likely that Reggie is referring to North American sales alone", presumably that was what it seemed in context, especially since Metroid regularly reaches 1.5 million worldwide.

It will be interesting to see if the game can hit 500k in week 6. If its drops is anything like the drop from week 4 to week 5 then it will wind up short.

Please there's no way he expected it to do that much in NA alone, if it will be the most underperfoming game of the gen
