Forums - Nintendo - 3DS in a Motor Vehicle...

Anyone else wondering how it would be to use a 3DS in a car...or an airplane....

I would think that it would be extremely nauseating to use something that's tricking my eyes to be 3D while going over bumps and what-not while moving...Using a normal screened portable is pretty straining on people's eyes already...Adding 3D seems like it would hurt.

Edit: I understand that one could probably simply turn down the depth to 0 in these situations...but then what's the point at that rate to having one...most of the time when Iuse a portable it's when I don't have the ability to get to a home console (Or sitting on the throne).

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

I don't think it'll be a problem, I mean there is a good amount of wiggle room before you get out of the sweet spot. Also why would you buy the console just because it can display 3D? You'll want to play it for the games it has, not because it has a 3D screen, what's the point of the screen without great content?

Remember, technology is only a tool.. It's the content and unique experiences that can be created with the technology that is important.

The unique experiences that are currently shining by having remakes? lol....I was looking for other reasons to buy the system at a later date when the games are more...revealed

You could always turn the 3D off if it is a problem...

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I don't know. I think it's a little early to tell, but if you want to try it out. Get yourself one of those parallax barrier holograms and look at that while in a car. Let us know your results. Be empirical about it too. Try different images, try it at different speeds and document your experiences. Otherwise I don't think anyone else here is going to any more than you do. The 3D Sharp screen isn't exactly out in the masses hands yet.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

People asked the same thing about the original DS before it came out regarding touch screen. Turned out just fine.

Same can be asked about playing a PSP with analog using presise movements, works just fine.

Unless you plan to go on dirt roads and 4 wheeling while game playing where your head is hitting the roof of the car then why worry?

Most the time in the car you will be on city streets with maybe an occasional speed bump or pothole.

This is nothing to worry about.

The console is called 3DS because its main feature is 3D. Discarding it as 'merely a tool' is not reasonable, it would be like going to IMAX and not being able to see any 3D content. The movie might still be  good, but you paid extra and went to IMAX because you wanted to see 3D, so it better be good and work well.

Otherwise, it's just forcing existing NDSL users to buy another console for no reason.
