After the patch planet scanning isn't that bad. They doubled the cursor size and it's speed.

Why haven't you got it before now!!!! It's an awesome game, and you should really go on to Mass Effect 2 afterwards. I would advise playing through 1st just as you would usually play, then a second playthrough to see the alternate paths

Also, what class are you? And don't say soldier! I did that, and when I played through the game a 2nd time as a Vanguard, I really realised what I was missing out on

SOLDIER! lol

And if I put Mass Effect into my old PC it would like blow up, so couldn't play it till now.

@Lestatdark

The Last Remnant is decent so far.

Really enjoying the game so far!

The datalog thingy is great too, the voice saying everything to you is useful lol

I would seriously start again, it is so much more fun with other classes

Good choice Darth, Mass Effect is an epic game with an amazing story and combat system. I wouldn't put it at the same level as KOTOR, but it's pretty good nonetheless

Do you have ME2 as well? The continuity effect of both games is pretty well implemented, and you'll actually see that some choices that you have taken in ME will effect ME2.

In my opinion though, ME1 is by far the better game, with the best story and interface. Hope you enjoy it

I'll be getting ME2 as soon as I finish this to make sure the continuity is there.

Everyone says ME2 is much better though, well I'll find out.

KOTOR is so epic if ME1 is even 70% of what KOTOR is it'll be my 2nd fav WRPG this gen.

I also got The Last Remnant too BTW. I've been missing PC gaming for so many years!

I didn't find ME2 to be very good. It did have some pretty thought off sequences with the party members, but it lacked immensely on the history department per se. And I hated the new interface and dumbing down of the RPG elements. Even on Insanity the game was way too easy.

Hope you enjoy Last Remnant too

Insanity was insane for the first few levels, but then it was a piece of piss. I didn't die for the middle 70% of the game, i just died a lot getting to that point

Yeah, pretty much this. I had a bit of trouble at the start too, up until the Archangel mission. Playing as Infiltrator helps a ton though, that class is broken

In ME1, Insanity was insane right until the end. Especially when you reach the last planet and the endgame part >_<

I used sentinel, the sniper rifle is just amazing, and with tech armour!!!!!

Still haven't got around to doing ME 1 on insanity, I might do it this summer, I want my 100% in achievements!

Well this will motivate me for a 2nd play through at least.

_______________

Liking it so far, not near KOTOR levels, but leagues above Dragon Age Origins.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Mass Effect is one of those games that I will remember forever. Much like I'll never forget Ocarina of Time or Super Mario Bros. Not saying that it's better than those games (as they are perfection in gaming form), but it gave me a much stronger set of emotions.

My only gripe was that it was too short. I beat it in about 40 hours, but I'm 60 hours into Dragon Age and barely getting started. I've never beaten a Bioware game other than the Mass Effect games, but I know that they've all been longer than 40 hours.

P.S. I personally liked it more than KotoR, but I dislike the Star Wars universe in general.

Many of us probably blindly like KOTOR in some ways because it was like the ONLY amazing Star Wars game at the time and the lore/universe of star wars is easily to fall in love especially us fans because its so well made by George Lucas.

Well, "barely getting started" is about 1/2 of the way through, but the fact remains that DA:O is MUCH longer than Mass Effect.

Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars, I just don't really like the universe. I think it's a little too fleshed out, if that makes any sense. The Sci-fi universe I love most is the Ender's Game universe. In the Ender books, the universe is still being explored and discovered, Star Wars takes place after humans have already discovered much of the galaxy and have co-existed with aliens. I prefer the idea of exploration and discovery, and the ME universe is right smack dab in the middle.

This wasn't true even if all you owned was a PS2, darth. Shame on you.

All I owned was the gamecube last gen khuutra

I got the PS2 in 2006.

(and no Rogue Squadron II doesn't do it for me, I need to play as a Jedi with force powers!)
