Forums - Microsoft - FINALLY Got Mass Effect 1 !!!

Why haven't you got it before now!!!! It's an awesome game, and you should really go on to Mass Effect 2 afterwards. I would advise playing through 1st just as you would usually play, then a second playthrough to see the alternate paths

Also, what class are you? And don't say soldier! I did that, and when I played through the game a 2nd time as a Vanguard, I really realised what I was missing out on

Good choice Darth, Mass Effect is an epic game with an amazing story and combat system. I wouldn't put it at the same level as KOTOR, but it's pretty good nonetheless

Do you have ME2 as well? The continuity effect of both games is pretty well implemented, and you'll actually see that some choices that you have taken in ME will effect ME2.

In my opinion though, ME1 is by far the better game, with the best story and interface. Hope you enjoy it

I'll be getting ME2 as soon as I finish this to make sure the continuity is there.

Everyone says ME2 is much better though, well I'll find out.

KOTOR is so epic if ME1 is even 70% of what KOTOR is it'll be my 2nd fav WRPG this gen.

I also got The Last Remnant too BTW. I've been missing PC gaming for so many years!

I didn't find ME2 to be very good. It did have some pretty thought off sequences with the party members, but it lacked immensely on the history department per se. And I hated the new interface and dumbing down of the RPG elements. Even on Insanity the game was way too easy.

Hope you enjoy Last Remnant too

I agree completely with what letsatdark says regarding ME1 and ME2. Although Mass Effect 1 had some very bad design choices (mainly the inventory management on the 360) and some performance issues it's still my favourite game this gen.

I just felt ME1 had better set-piece moments than ME2 and the exposure to the lore and how it was handled in a more effective way than in ME2. I also liked the supporting cast a lot more and the general interactions with them.

Having said that I hope you enjoy the series.

P.S. I'll definitely see you again at the "Finally got Infamous" thread :)

Insanity was insane for the first few levels, but then it was a piece of piss. I didn't die for the middle 70% of the game, i just died a lot getting to that point

Yeah, pretty much this. I had a bit of trouble at the start too, up until the Archangel mission. Playing as Infiltrator helps a ton though, that class is broken

In ME1, Insanity was insane right until the end. Especially when you reach the last planet and the endgame part >_<

And if I put Mass Effect into my old PC it would like blow up, so couldn't play it till now.

@Lestatdark

The Last Remnant is decent so far.

Really enjoying the game so far!

The datalog thingy is great too, the voice saying everything to you is useful lol

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Saying that Mass Effect is epic is an understatement. seriously, It's one of the few games this gen that I found really memorable.

And as munkeh said, don't start as a soldier. you're missing out a lot in terms of biotic abilities and tech.

i give kotor 10/10

mass effect 9/10

mass effect 2 9.75/10
