Forums - Nintendo - Sony's Hirai: Naked eye 3d tech for portables does not have high precision.

@ LordTheNightKnight: You're stubburly going back to this again and again, and for what reason exactly?  Do you have something to gain out of this?  After I already explained what was meant by this original post of mine?

I won't change my stance. I still view those people the same way, with a few exceptions that are able to show good faith, which is not the norm on the internet.  You on the other end, doesn't seem to have any of that, if I judge by the fact that you that stubbornly continue to come back to this petty out of topic argument.  Like I should take back what I said because I don't see this like you do?  Because I think people that have consoles from only one console maker tend to act a certain way, which I've "exposed" in those posts?

Nope, sorry.

If you want to discuss this any further, I would suggest you take this to PM, since this matter is clearly not related to the topic anymore.

Who wants to bet PSP2 will have 3D? That's if PSP2 ever is released.

if the PSP2 is released, i wouldn't be surprised to see 3d in some form on it. i mean, they're pushing 3d for the PS3, why not make a 3d handheld to compliment it? it certainly won't save sony any face, but that's competition for you....

gotta try to 1up your competitors somehow.

Naked Eye? Will I be able to use this in public to see girls naked as I walk down the street?

This is no where near as bad as some are making out. He isn't bad mouthing 3DS, he specifies he hasn't seen it. He's saying Sony have looked at the technology and decided it wasn't what they wanted in their next portable device, which as far as I'm concerned is a good thing. It likely means PSP2 will have features to differentiate it from 3DS, and variety in games systems is something I'm all for.

Also, what Hirai says reminds me of what Iwata said in relation to Kinect. Iwata said Nintendo checked out the tech behind that device and turned it down, because they didn't think it would work with their devices and design approach. I don't seem to recall any uproar regarding that. How is this any different?

The difference is most people (including MS fanboys) think Kinect sucks. So they agree with Miyamoto.

Sixth gen: What about EyeToy? Isn't that innovative?

Not really. Nintendo had already made peripherals and then failed to support them with compelling software.

LOL, do you want that both Nintendo and Sony fanboys hate you?   Oh, thinking again, no fear, maybe it was too subtle.

Yes, I do!

But I don't believe even the biggest Nintendo fanboy will argue that things like the Power Glove and R.O.B. were supported very well. The EyeToy was clearly just a copy of those.

Nintendo did not develop the Power Glove, Mattle did. It was a third party product and that is the reason why it was not supported. R.O.B on the other hand, was used to get the NES into homes. The crash of 83 made Nintendo cautious about selling the NES in North America and R.O.B was the answer. It was never designed to be more than what it was.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Hirai really needs to read all the glowing impressions people have had for the 3DS

it isn't precise.. if you look at it from the wrong angle the image is blurred.. so maybe he is on to something, then again the wii is anything but precise with the controller.. so

Well, at least isn't doesn't require something like glasses which would make it unplayable.

Honestly, how can 3D be imprecise?

This is PR spin. Sony's "research" is bullshit, because if they really did research on it, they would be the ones with awesome new hardware. He, and you, need to read some reviews on the 3DS's 3D tech.

Sony's research on Nintendo's technology amounts to them watching the Nintendo E3 press conference, shitting their pants, and brainstorming some way to marginalize the blow, all the while drawing  up plans to copy it with the PSP, and somehow proclaim that  their version is better, despite the obvious fact that it will be a complete and utter ripoff trying to cash in on the vast vast success of the 3DS....kinda like the move did.

What are you getting defensive for? He didn't even comment on the 3DS because he hasn't seen it.

As always, there is a very large difference between what a general consumer wants and what a videophile wants; and I think Sony has been focused on the videophile to the extent that they’re completely missing what the general consumer wants.

I hope the general consumer likes to waste their money.

Many do, its how Sony and MS make money
