I hated that speech, why was it even there in their conference? Why wasn't that time taken up by The Last Guardian?

You're pretty pissed.  So you hate the speech because YOU THINK it took time which could have been used for The Last Guardian?  How do you know Sony didn't have something better than The Last Guardian in store for us?  Like Versus.  After E3, I think it was Jack that said there was a lot of games they wanted to show but didn't have time.  I personally think that speech was epic.  Still that is your opinion and it's cool.  Just don't hate on Kevin. Kay.

So....they didn't have enough time to show games, but they have 5 minutes to spare for..... this? O.o

Tooooootally makes sense

Actually it does. E3 is show. Do you expect them to show only trailers? I mean they even showed multi-platform games. KB is extremely popular among PS fans. Some people metnioned it was wroth watching the show just for him.

Shovel ware would have been better then this. Epic Fail! lol hehe just jking guys.

No now to say something to add to the thread. I think its obvious that most people eather hate or love the guy. And that fits well with Sony. But

Is it the smartess marketing model to work with? I dont think its a good idea if your thinking of stealing other consules consumers.

Its a smart model to strenten your fanbase, to make them not buy other products.

So thats why i call it a double edged. But in the and it will hurt them more then help. (My opinion).

Aggressive marketing will not work for the Casual.

Based on this logic, M$ are in store for some very nasty supprises.

Really? Did you watch MS E3? i think they will do alot better then Sony, right off the bat.

Care to show some aggressive marketing by MS? You may be missing compleatly what im saying.

I talking about aggressive, as Attacking what othere companys are doing or doing in the future. Making fun of it, making it look stupid.

Aggressive in that sense.

You may be saying aggressive in the sense of alot of marketing?

Yes, because target tech demos have never once seen the light of day. ¬_¬

By your logic, Versus XIII should have been shown and playable because they showed a teaser trailer in CG some years ago.

Are you even putting any thoughts in all this?

I would go so far as saying you're just trolling right now.

Dude..... are you serious? When you started quoting me was b/c I said that there is not logic that they didn't have time to show something about the game, when they have 5 minutes wasted with this clown that brings nothing, in terms of games.

You are seriously lacking some reading comprehension, or just you are not really following what I said. I just said that I don't understand why Sony gave this clown a 5 minute speech trying to do a comedy stand, instead of showing a great game (Like TLG).

And then you went on to say that maybe it was because the game wasnt ready to be shown... which is stupid, because they already showed it.

Is not that i'm trolling, is just that apparently you wanted to see comedy at E3. But I wanted to see games, which is not that crazy because you know, this was a video game conference.

And yeah, Versus could have been shown instead of this, I don't know about a Demo playable, but at least some news. A lot of people were expecting it

Depends, i'm not trying to be hostile; but you did say 'its a smart model to strengthen your fanbase'. and Kinect caters to a non existant M$ fanbase; they seem to be targeting the Wii casuals. you also mention that 'agressive marketing' wont work for casuals, but i'm sure i heard something about M$ and an agressive marketing strategy for the EU.

and this: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=111817&page=1&str=960258154#

which is a lot more agressive than Sony and Nintendo at the moment.

and as far as i'm concerned M$ is attempting to steal the Wii fanbase, a lot of the games they've shown so far look a lot like Wii sports, and that kinetimals seems a lot like Nintendogs. Sony arent completely innocent either, but a lot of move looks to enhance the core experience and provide a new casual one, rather than just cater to a new fanbase altogether.

so imo, the logic you've used in your first post suggest M$ are in for some bad supprises and move is a more thought out marketing device. although i have no idea which will win this hoilday, and there are of course other variables to consider, so i dont know...

I think Sony feels Kevin Butler is their biggest exclusive next to GT5 right now.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I could say Style over Substance.

But then again, if people will listen to someone who had to change their name from Ted to Kevin to get a job, then who knows.

Essentially, the sentiments expressed were good -- but they apply to everyone, not just Sony.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Did you see how Nintendo guy did not even attack anyone. smart move.

Attacking a other company publicly is bad bisness period.

But MS is not attacking Nintendo publicly on the news or in its ad campagne, like Sony has.

In that link the MS guys looks on the defencive, and lashes out at both to try and save face.

But MS hole marketing is not based on what happened in that interview.

What's the difference between Reggie 'attacking' 3D with glasses, they didn't have to show pictures of a depressed family in their living room with glasses on, they didn't have to keep  telling the audience that glasses we're bad etc. It was a direct attack on Sony's product and yet I don't see people huffing and puffing over that.

Kevin Butler had one video we're he made fun of the Wii and Natal, it wasn't a commercial, it was a fan service video. Get over it, the campaign's working very well for Sony and the fanbase loves the light humour.

Nintendo has marketed aggresively in the past, Sony made one video that only forum dwellers saw, Kevin Butler is a light hearted take on the industry, get over it.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
