Forums - Sales Discussion - Is It Possible For GT5 To OutSell Halo Reach Lifetime?...I Think So!

User base to sw sales.

GC - 24m - SSBM - 7.08
Wii - 72m -  SSBB - 9.49

So many more consoels yet not that many more sales.

Most people that bough a GC are hardcore, the Wii is a different story... Also Wii is the most pirated system after PC. And by the time Halo 3 came out it still had less sales than Xbox 1, yet sold faster. Funny how that works.

Did you just prove his argument?

PS2 = casuals and pirated.

PS3 = Mostly "hardcore" and not pirated.

Oh look at that.

I never said that PS2 was a casual console, although its probably true that most casual PS2 owners bough a Wii instead of a PS3. However racing games are actually huge in the causal market, so i don't know what your point is. Less gamers = less games sold. Now i do not think GT5 will do bad, i just don't think it will do better than Halo Reach, since its obvious that it will do better than MW2 (for Xbox 360).

So rather than look at facts for what they are, you just try and say they are right for one side of the argument but wrong when it's against you? Ridiculous. Not even gonna read your reply after that.

when thinking about how GT5 will Sell i always look at GTA. GTA 3 sold 11.6 million on ps2 now GTA4 on ps3 has only sold 6.58 million copies. why the huge decrease probably because the size of the ps3 userbase is so much smaller then the ps2's. GT4 sold 10.54 million i expect smaller numbers for GT5 like seen with the GTA series. i say 8 million lifetime tops. i dont think the ps3 wil ever have a game sell more then 10 million copies( okay maybe MW2 it will be close)

as for reach i think it will sell more then halo 3. why ? the increase in sales in halo 1,2,3 despite the games getting increasinglee worse (metacritic halo 1 97,2 had 95, and 3 94. and lets be honest halo 3 should have had like 92 but the hype increased it. dont get me wrong i loved all 3 games). i think reach will be much better then 2, and 3. probably get a 95-97 metacritic. so i expect reach to sell 11-13.5 million copies.

so thats 11-13.5 for reach and 7-8 million for GT5

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Make no mistake. It will be up to Codemasters and Bernie together whether or not Polyphony will have the F1 2007 Ferrari in GT5. The only way I see it is if Codemasters see it as no conflict to there own game.

And to be honest 1 or 2 F1 cars will not stop 'anyone' buying F1 2010 if they love F1. By the latest report by InsideSimRacing F1 2010's F1 handling and racing model will be ahead anyone over GT5 F1 models.

F1 2010 is including full tyre deformation ( which includes the rubber shredding causing marbles on the tyres and track ). flatspots from locking up under braking affecting the vibrations through the force feedback etc.

The only place on consoles to race an F1 car this year realistically is F1 2010.

I watch this video and saw no mention of Gt5. Also Codemaster made it clear F1 2010 physics will not be as realitsic as Rfactor or Iracing F1 cars. They are not trying to make the most realistic F1 sim but a more casual racers with an more interesting career mode. They are trying to sim the actually F1 racing experience more than F1 cars.

I guess you fell asleep when the developer answered the realsim question.

Question to dev was: " If Rfactor and Iracing are a 10 for realism where do you rate F1 2010 to be.

They said early in dev it was around 5. But now we are launching it with around an 8 on full sim mode.

Thats remarkably good. Considering they consider they are a bit more real than Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 3 on PC. Thats there aim. The realism of that series. And that is an awesome thing.

Selnor, Gran Prix 3 is the worst Gran Prix in term of simulation. They focused way too much on graphical upgrades and trying to fit the simulation parameters that Gran Prix Legends implemented, but failed rotundly because the graphical engine was taking far too many calculations from the physics themselves. Hence there was a lot of simulation mistakes, spring and roll-bar issues were amongst the worst, coupled with many wrong gear ratio relations that couldn't be set with fidelity (especially for the lower tiered F1's).

That's why with Gran Prix 4 they went back to what Gran Prix 2 had achieved, a perfect symbiosis between graphical fidelity and the simulation aspect of the game. Even then it was not enough to garner the same response as Gran Prix 2 had garnered.

Gran Prix 2 is the F1 simulator to beat (Gran Prix Legends if you're truly bent on F1 simulation), not Gran Prix 3.

Tell me why it's obvious Halo Reach will sell better than MW2. I mean, Cod (MW) is clearly a bigger franchise than Halo now...

I don't know exact numbers, but if you think back at Halo 3 the 360 had only sold like 18 million consoles or so? Yet in the first week it sold almost 4 million copies, MW2 "only" sold like 5 million even though the install base was twice as big.

Also exclusives do sell better than multi platform games and Halo is about as big as it gets when it comes to a exclusive franchise (outside of Nintendo). When Halo Reach comes, 360s install base will be bigger than it was when MW2 came and Halo Reach probably score higher on meta critic. As for marketing, M$ marketing when it comes to Halo games are huge. Halo Reach will be the best sold 360 game period, GT5 might be the best sold PS3 game, but i still doubt it will outsell Halo Reach.

Yea but see the 360 users are hardcore who like halo and PS3 are hardcore and it's casuals only buy GT5.

Thought I would answer for him.
