Forums - Nintendo - GameCube & Luigi Mansion designed for first 3D? WOW!

This was interesting to know.  GameCube and Luigi's Mansion were designed for 3D originally.  Nintendo was innovating long before we knew I guess.  This is new news to me.  Maybe others of you knew but I sure as hell didn't.  Pretty cool reading.

wow I had no clue.

So.... there is a chance to see luigi's mansion on the 3DS?? :O oh my, glorious day!!!!

I hope I was (still am) right

Interesting.  I guess this information goes to show that R&D goes on for longer than most of us imagine.  It makes sense, that being said, I am still surprized.  This information would indicate that Nintendo would have been experimenting with the idea of 3D gaming for around a decade.  Looks like that time has resulted in a great machine.

Remember, magic is just stuff science has not made boring yet.

not surprised. People often forget that many technologies have been in R&D for years before ever released. Most technologies are never released because business decisions feel that they worn't work. So it wouldn't surprise me that Nintendo did do some 3D R&D, but the same can be said that Sony was probably working on Wand technology around the same time as WiiRemote tech and Camera Tracking has been around for years.

Anyways it's interest to know that Nintendo did some 3D R&D back then.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

This one title alone would give me reason to get my kid a 3DS.  She'd be happy and I'd have one game on there that I'd be excited about.  Make that two with Kid Icarus.
