Forums - Sales - Will The 360 Be Able To Out Sell The PS3 WW Next Week?

The 360 slim wont be out until july here in Europe and there is no price drop on current models, so over here sales will go down. So maybe not next week even though its gonna be at least double in sales in the US. However when slim hits shelves here in Europe, i think 360 will be ahead for the rest of the year if not longer.

I'm quite curious, but here in EU XB360 Arcade is already available bundled with one or more games at less than 168€, VAT included, and the old 120GB Elite can be found bundled with Splinter Cell Conviction for less than 225€ and with Halo 3 and Fable 2 or Halo ODST and FM3 for less than 240€, always VAT included.

So the clearance sale for Arcade, if priced at 149€ VAT included and if not bundling a game, wouldn't actually be a lot more attractive than the best price we can currently get.

So the only XB360 that could really boost sales here is the new Slim at 299€, but at that price we can already find offers for the PS3 Slim 250GB that includes in addition Blu Ray and free online multiplayer.

But who knows, we'll have to wait and see...

you make a good point and i didnt know there was no price drop on current models. i see 360 selling 100k in america and 30k outside of it(sold about 36k outside americas last week. 130k for 360 next week and 125 for ps3. but when slim comes to europe 360 might outsell ps3 for the rest of the year like you said

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

lol yes, expect the PS3 to be outsold for the next couple months to honest with you.  Possibly until after the holidays depending on the success of Kinect.  Though the 360 slim only released in NA on next weeks numbers so we might have to wait until its released worldwide to see the big impact.  But yes until after the holidays the 360 is going to crush the PS3 in NA at least.

Generally, since the release of the PS3 Slim, the sales of the PS3 and 360 have been, about equal in America, slightly favoring PS3 in Others and greatly favoring PS3 in Japan.

For the 360 to beat the PS3 WW, 360 sales in America would have to overcome the deficit in Others (easy) and Japan (not so easy) with only 2-3 days of tracked sales with new SKU and lowered prices on existing stock.

I think it will be close this week.

doubt it.....the 30K weekly lead Is about 25% more than what it sells right now.  The sale wasn't even advertised that well, and besides there are only a limited number of old sku 360's around anyway.

You cant stop the PS3.

abnd its only one day of the new SKU I believe...

Gamestops here starting selling them Thursday 17th, but I spoke to a guy at Best Buy who said thier official "street" date was Friday the 18th.

Regardless, I completely agree that it was not largely advertised (and yet it was still a bitch for me to find one).

I completely disagree with "you cant stop the PS3" but hey, to each his own.

Ok, as of now,  the new 360 bundles have price cuts on the old skus, even though they are in limited numers and "upgrades" of new skus with them sitting at around the same price but with wi-fi and more memory.  Well, that's nice but these things probably won't be big selling points.  I'm not expecting kinect or Move to be big selling points either.  In the end, MS isn't being aggressive enough to caputre market share b/c they could probably cut price by $40  or so and add these features at the same time.

Also, what has changed since the E3?

-The PSN plus has been added giving Sony another source of revenue, which helps a lot

-The PS3 will soon have Steamworks, giving developers one more reason to choose the PS3 for PC/PS3 games and kick MS to the curb.  Adding the PC gamers to the mix will give developers more than enough $$$ so Sony will have to moneyhat less now (to give a PS3/Pc "exclusive" to avoid the 360), which will save them $$$$.

-The 360 has a slim version now, that is 18% smaller than the orginal....whoah market changer here guys.  The PS3 slim is 30% smaller thna the original.... and this is as small as the 360 is going to get, it ain't getting any more "freebies" now.  This is its last beneficial turn of events.

It's been great so far for the PS3, more and more to come.

-The PSN plus has been added giving Sony another source of revenue, which helps a lot  Helps a lot with what?   Will SONY possibly have more money before they started this service?  Yep.  How will it affect things in the short term?  Unless they have something like a >60% adoption rate, I don't see it having any immediate effect.  Down the road, after they recoup investment? Sure.  This year?  I'd guess very little.

Have you SEEN the attach ratios and userbase for the 360 in America?  If you think any developer is going to kick the 360 to the curb anytime soon...welll I'm sorry but you are a bit delusional there.  When the 360 had close to an 8 million unit lead WW, they didn't kick the PS3 to the curb, but because of steamworks they are suddenly going to forgo the entire 360 userbase?  Please.

So you think that people actually measure the percent difference in size and make a purchase decision on that?  Really?  I can see it now...  "Hey you know I was really going to buy that new 360, but it's only 18% smaller..DO NOT WANT"...

Additionally what arguments do you have to support that this is "the last beneficial turn of events"?  Just because you said so?

It's been great so far for the PS3, more and more to come.  I am completely fine with you feeling happy with your purchase and hoping for more great things for your system of choice.  I'm not even disagreeing that the PS3 has had a good past year.  But to off-handedly dismiss the strengths of the competition with no real cogent arguments...well, I think it'd be more genuine for you to just say, I prefer the PS3, so it's better, period.

See my comments above. ON topic, as I said in an earlier post, I think it will be close this week, I think next week the 360 does outsell the PS3 WW though (my 2 cent prediction for what it's worth).

I think forum posters sometimes equate disagreement with hate.  So let me be up front:I don't hate my PS3, nor do I hate Sony.  But I disagree with just about everything you said up there, sorry.
