We had a poll with all three options, and Nintendo was the clear winner, with good reason (in my opinion). But there seemed to be people saying both Nintendo > Sony > MS and Nintendo > MS > Sony. So it would be interesting to see what the community as a whole thinks.

I would personally give it to Sony over Microsoft. I felt Microsoft's Kinect games were too similar to games for the Wii, while the Move games that Sony showed seemed more unique. And there were no comedy bits in the Microsoft conference, while the Sony conference had Kevin Butler, that PSP ad campaign, and even a severely humbled Gabe Newell. The 360 Slim's launch date of that week was a definite high point for Microsoft, but the lack of a price point for Kinect was disappointing: Sony revealed both a concrete launch date and pricing scheme for PS Move.

Both conferences had highlights and lowlights, but all taken into account, I would say Sony won over Microsoft by quite a significant margin.

What are your thoughts?

i would vote for Sony but since it does not matter anyway i'l vote for Microsoft that way sony can be 3rd place not only in sales but also motion control's also.

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

I think Sony had more games to show, but they're just really good at stretching things out and making otherwise interesting information very boring.  Too many montages, etc.  Microsoft, on the other hand, showed off a few good games at the start (Gears, Halo, Fable), and then focused the rest of the show on Kinect's attempts at Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Just Dance.  Like badgenome said, it lead to some funny gifs, but aside from that it didn't interest me at all.  MIcrosoft's show was certainly the more memorable of the two, but for all the wrong reasons.

In the end Nintendo destroyed both.

listen between Sony and Nintendo the was no contest Nintendo won.

Between Sony and M$ the was no contest.

Sony won.  Enough said

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I like how Microsoft started their conference with cod black ops, halo reach, gears of war 3, mgsr, and fable 3.  Then I thought they talked too much about kinect and they didn't show anything that makes me want it.  I liked the espn announcement.  They found the nerdiest white guy they could to demo that dancing game so that had me cracking up.  I like look of the redesigned xbox so I thought that was cool.

At Sony's conference they showed more games but because of their bad pacing I was bored at times.  I didn't like how they used the conference to show psp's new ad campaign.  I also didn't like them bringing out Kevin Butler to do his stand up comedy routine when they could have been demoing more games.  But at the end of the day it is about the games and Sony showed more of them so I will have to give it to Sony by the narrowiest of margins.

In a pure world of "Which gave the gamers more games" Sony won, period.

In a pure world of "Who catered to their target base better" Microsoft did with non-hardcore gamers/kids (their main crowd for Kinect)

I think Sony did a better job of getting current customers interested in their Motion Product, while MS did a better job of trying to bring in NEW customers (the point isnt it?)

Who was the most shameless?  Hard to point to here.  Giving away Xbox's was pretty low, but ADVERTISING YOURSELF AT YOUR OWN FUCKING CONFERENCE? Really Sony? Really?   Did you need to show YOUR OWN COMMERCIALS at your OWN CONFERENCE?  Come On! Sony!  You win this one.

In the end Sony's conference did a better job of sticking with me, so Ill have to give it to them.  Besides, I have to wonder if there is a reason MS did not give a REAL price of Kinect (Yes everyone is showing it at 149, but is that OFFICIAL?)

Better is a incredibly subjective term. I suppose it depends on how you quantify success. After watching the Microsoft show I basically tuned out on the conferences. I was already intent on tuning out Nintendo entirely. I heard their message loud and clear last year and took the hint. So I can only talk to Microsoft, and while I personally feel that these heavily promoted events should be skewed to the interested parties that are going to be watching on television or on the net. I cannot help feeling that their event was probably what was best for sales while bad for viewers.

I suppose the real answer will come in the holiday season if their Kinect is akin to the second coming for this generation. Then I will either have to concede that they were right, or that they were wrong with their approach. One thing I do know for certain. I am not tuning in to watch one of these conferences again. I will just settle for the keynotes from the poor saps that are forced to watch these things. They have become more like marketing seminars then anything that is supposed to actually be entertaining.

The content of both conferences is questionable (I'm not very interested in most of what either had to show), but I definitely found Microsoft's more entertaining.

Although the Kinect games might end up being pretty dull to play, it was fun to watch all the different uses they had for the device. The ESPN bit was interesting, and in general, they just kept the show moving. In fact, I found MS' first 30 minutes, especially the CoD portion, to be the most boring part of the conference.

Sony's conference had a few things that interested me - Sorcery, Gabe Newell (that was pretty funny), and some of the PSP montage (Japanese games!). Unfortunately, this was surrounded by tons of boring crap, from Jack Tretton's seemingly endless speeches, Kevin Butler's monologue (I really hate this guy), 10 minutes on golf, and the closing with Twisted Metal, which spent way too much time on some odd game mode.

Sony easily.

I almost cried when I heard Kevin Butler's gaming speech.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Sony obviously

Portal Twisted Metal Sorcery

Microsoft Sucked big time except for the new 360.

equally bad imo, the Sony conf didn't need to be 2 hours, and MS made me want to choke babies besides the first 20 or so minutes.
