Better is a incredibly subjective term. I suppose it depends on how you quantify success. After watching the Microsoft show I basically tuned out on the conferences. I was already intent on tuning out Nintendo entirely. I heard their message loud and clear last year and took the hint. So I can only talk to Microsoft, and while I personally feel that these heavily promoted events should be skewed to the interested parties that are going to be watching on television or on the net. I cannot help feeling that their event was probably what was best for sales while bad for viewers.

I suppose the real answer will come in the holiday season if their Kinect is akin to the second coming for this generation. Then I will either have to concede that they were right, or that they were wrong with their approach. One thing I do know for certain. I am not tuning in to watch one of these conferences again. I will just settle for the keynotes from the poor saps that are forced to watch these things. They have become more like marketing seminars then anything that is supposed to actually be entertaining.
