Nintendo will solve that problem next year with Nintendo 3DS XL! <3 <3
And it'll still be cheaper than a family set of 3D glasses, lol.

LoL, they should be crying instead, who would pay 1500 (if not more) Euro to by a 3D tv, just to play Sony's games or see Avatar? they'll buy 3DS instead, at least that's what i'm doing! |
ok do that... its like 3DS has god like specs i bet its specs wont come anywhere near ps3's thats why its better for them.... i prefer watching avatar in 3D and see how sexy its graphics and stuff r instead of looking at cartoony things sticking out of a screen and it not being soo clear and sexy as avatar ^^ thats my opinion.... NINTENDO 3DS ISNT A GIFT FROM GOD AND IT WILL NOT DREAMCAST PSP2!!!

How is the idea of Sony following Nintendo funny and unexpected? Do I really need to list the numerous ideas/controllers/everything that Sony has copied since it took the idea that Nintendo gave it of a "Play Station" in the first place and entered the gaming world?
You're being a little too fanboyish here.
The next PSP is going to be one of two things.
A Androind smartphone that has far more gaming ability than any smartphone that exists.
or
A PSP-esque device that is more powerful, uses Android maybe, and has a 3D screen.

Lol. Sure. Pleased that their competitor pretty much dumped on their whole E3 parade. Releasing a system that in all likely hood is the death knell to that division of Sony's company, while also neutralizing their consoles 3d direction.
Pleased indeed.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
Sony stands to make far more money on making 3D an everyday TERM. They dont need adoption, they simply need people to accept the concept. This doesnt mean adoption, but if people begin accepting that transition, sony has positioned itself as a company at the forefront via their TV's, PS3 and Worldcup not to mention the new advertising with Peyton and Timberlake.
This goes beyond videogames and goes beyond even the next year. Im surprised how jaded and shortsighted some people are. Nintendo, especially at this current time, are so influential to a lot of demographics especially on a technology front as a lot mor epeople will pay attention to where they choose to innovate based on the success of Wii and to a lesser extent the DS. Because of their visionary past, the fact theyr eembracing 3d tech, regardless of glasses or not, will immediately give 3D credibility.
They are pleased because then they can copy them a la Move.
| Onyxmeth said: I don't think Sony's that pleased by it. I'm sure they would have rather gotten a 3DS-like PSP out first and not merely been pleased with trying to piggyback Nintendo's 3D success into getting a slightly faster adoption rate on 3D TVs, 3D games, etc. This could potentially kill their handheld business. It could even set back glass wearing 3D if people are so settled into the 3DS and it's games/movies that they don't want to go back to wearing glasses for such ludicrous prices. |
I actually think Sony might be pleased about this. It's pretty much a toss up whether this is going to help 3D theater stuff or not. Nintendo can say "glasses are lame" to try to offset the help they're giving other kinds of 3D, but in the end trends aren't set by what Nintendo decrees, they're set by what Nintendo does. The enemy of home theater 3D is going to be the price of the new TVs and the ridiculous price tag on those glasses more than anything else.
Also, there was an interview two days ago with Peter Dille or some other suit from Sony in which they basically said handheld 3D hasn't been tested in the market yet, and they're not willing to support it until they can see it's going to be succesful. Realistically, I think Sony is happy to let Nintendo try things first and then move in afterward and try to out-spec them.
Actually, I think this illustrates a huge difference between the two companies. Sony thinks more like a big corporation, while Nintendo thinks more like a developer. Something like a handheld with glasses-free 3D sounds amazing to most people who play games, but to Sony, it's "untested" and too risky simply because there's no market data on it -- they think in terms of market trends. Nintendo, on the other hand, is much more able to think like a gamer even when they're making hardware, which is what game developers have to do to make things that are relevant. Nintendo doesn't let market analysis lead the way -- they're willing to jump in and bring what actually excites them. (Which is not to say they don't also reference market data.)
