I remember the DS, and sometimes the Wii, getting dissed as another Virtual Boy. What they of course meant was a total failure due to a bad gimmick. Not only did that not happen, Nintendo is now doing with the 3DS what they couldn't do with the Virtual Boy back then.

This is Gunpei's vision redeemed.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

A children's activity book with Nintendo characters that comes with 3D glasses would have been an upgrade over the Virtual Boy. The 3DS is so advanced, it will actually erase the part of our brains that remembers the Virtual Boy ever existed. That is it's primary function actually.
