wow I didnt know that when I played it like 5 years ago

Nintendo ruined the retroactive surprise.

But yeah, I didn't care much for the 3DS, but now...sub $200 price = Day One.

Konami is producing a version of its hit PlayStation 3 game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

I'm no MGS fan, but I know something is wrong here

Wired sez:

You can only see the 3-D effect if you’re looking at the 3DS screen straight on, although there’s a good amount of fudge factor there — you can move the unit around quite a bit and still get the effect. It’s not as if you have to hold your hands in the exact perfect place. If you tilt the unit away from your face so it’s almost at a 180-degree angle, you can still see the 3-D effect. If you tilt it left and right, you’ll lose the effect and the picture will go smudgy, like what happens when you remove your glasses during a 3-D movie.

So you can still see the 3D images even when the unit is almost completely facing away from your eyes? That is ASTOUNDING.

I think if you saw those rumors about the tech it would use, it's like if you had different vertical lines tilted so they're directed to a single eye.

Nonono

Imagine that a circle can be segmented into 360 degrees. Half a rotation is 180 degrees, so if a 3DS was rotated this much away from your eyes, you would not be able to see the screen, and I assume neither the images created by it.

It would be spectacular if this thing could project images onto particles of air, however.

Of course, but it says almost 180 degrees. And of course you won't see it the same way as you would at a right angle, but you'll still be able to see it.

How much is "almost"? This is really important to my purchasing decisions.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

OMG. MGS is one of my favourite games series' and I missed only 1: MGS 3 (I sold my PS3 to get a GC and Metroid Prime made it SO worth it!!!).

This might be my first handheld purchase ever. Snake eater; impress me.

172°. I don't know, but I'd guess as long as you can see the picture, you can see the 3D in some shape. Still, you'll probably be getting the 3D effect at an angle higher than you could possibly want to play even a 2D game, if this works as I think, so it shouldn't be an issue.

EDIT: The 3D effect would, however, get skewed just as the regular image does: you wouldn't be seeing it projectec "out from the screen" (as in, directly out from it, to where it's facing), but always coming towards your face.

Now if only they can announce a price point under 200$ I''ll be fine with it

My god that's what I'm hoping for. If its $199 or less I'll get one day one.

The problem is that they have sooo much stuff cramed in that little thing I mean it has 2 3-D cameras!
That stuff doesn't come cheap. I'm worried that its not too overstuffed with features. Well
I guess we'll have to wait

actually it's just 2 cmos sensors. they are relatively cheap
