Forums - Sony - Should Sony Be Worried

How will Sony respond to what?

Sony has to be thrilled at this moment.

barring any significant announcements by Microsoft, 2nd place is a lock for Sony without dipping below the $300 mark.

Lol wait until after Sony's E3 conference before you start making asinine comments like that.

No, because Microsoft flubbed it with $299.  Now Sony can totally counter and dominate by announcing a $199 120GB.

Do you know how hard that would be since they just lowered the price by $100 last year?  I could possible see $50 price cut but a $100 price cut would be ridiculous and Sony would once again go to massively losing money for each console sold.

I think they're hungry enough honestly.  It's pretty clear by now that PS3 will basically never be profitable overall anyway, and I'm starting to think Sony will do whatever it takes to finish in second place this generation.

I dunno wtf happened to MS though... they pretty clearly are content with where they are.

No.  The slim 360's looks to be mabey 20% smaller than the model it is replacing so I'm not sold that this will be a game changer.

It's really just another year for the two, nothing more or less.

Releasing a Slim model this far into the gen, raising the price considerably and launching it in the middle of summer. Strange at best imo. Such a weird decision, I wonder who made this call?

I think the 3DS is going to crush whatever remains of the PSP (even in Japan) when it's released.  As for the PS3 it's going to be facing much more fierce competition with some heavy hitters from both Microsoft and Nintendo as well as having to deal with Kinect.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that I think Sony may be in serious trouble now.  They will probably have to take losses again on hardware and I think eventually the hundreds of millions or billions more in losses will cause Sony to clean house and probably cut studios and games.

It's not all doom and gloom though, for example if Jack Tretton is one of the casualties he could probably rebound as a car salesman.  He has a real sincere quality about him that would really work to his advantage..

after a few hrs they'll be nothing to worry bout

although i like the new 360 S b/c theyve added things to it instead of remove, i dont think it will have the impact that MS had in 08 when they went down to $200 or when PS3 went to $299

even it the new 360S goes to $200 this year its still only $100 cheaper than the PS3 with bluyray and free online i still think costumers are going to pay the exrta $100 for the PS3 than new 360S need to go to $150 and come with some sort of HDD or have MS sell there HDDs for about $50 (which i dont see happening going by the prices of there addons as of late) if they want to beat Sony this holiday season imo

sony will fire back with new 250gb for $299 500gb for $349 and clear out old 120gbs for $250 just watch

Well let's see what they do with move. I would have expected a more agressive move from M$ giving the ailing sales, but let's just see what happens when Kinect launches

No, the X360 is too pricey at 299.
