Kinect to have two versions, most expensive costs $189.00

http://www.vg247.com/2010/06/14/rumor-kinect-to-have-two-versions-most-expensive-cost-189-00/

VG247 has just been informed by an inside source close to Natal/Kinect that there will be two version of the camera controller when it hits the market.

The most expensive one will run you $189.00.

If you recall, there was a story a while back that the camera in Natal had be dumbed down a bit in order to make it cheaper. Well, we’ve been told by our source that Microsoft replaced that bit with tilt, that is controlled by a motor on the base – which has be known for a bit now.

Kinect was outed as the name of the motion controller earlier by a Danish advert and USA Today.

Pat is heading to the Natal event as we speak, hopefully we will know more soon.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

The Kinect name has been confirmed?

So why is there two version of Kinect?

And $189 is bloody expensive.

Wow, that is not going to end well...

another rumor that will be answered in like a day lol.

If true, stupid move by Microsoft. Like what are developers meant to do? Have two sets of controls for cheapo dumbed down version and the good version or do they make the game for the dumbed down version and there fore what is the need for the better one?

I wonder how much the cheaper version will be? For that matter why would it be cheaper? perhaps it would not include a game? Then again it is a rumor.

if you read the article it has a cheaper camera without motors to tilt it.

I thought it applied to both models; tilt motor alone is not a justifiable reason for for one unit to cost more. If that's the case, they're better off dumping it all together and have only one unit at the same price.

Just $10 cheaper than a Wii. What a deal!!

So. If the 360 gets another price drop, which I assume it will, this thing will cost more than an Arcade? O_o
