I think the fact that he said not to read into his tweet sorta means its not Donkey Kong. He's just teasing us with the Banana and ape remarks. I've been waiting for Donkey Kong to make an appearance since DKWii was announced at TGS 2005. But fact is that the game was likely cancelled since we never heard about it again.

Would Retro do an amzing job with a platformer? I don't know so far they have only really shown us an FPS. If I recall their other cancelled products, Football , Raven Blade etc...etc.. were not platformers either. Though I wouldn't be too suprised if Nintendo handed the Donkey Kong liscense to Retro since they seem to be Nintendo's new Rare.

To be honest I would much rather see Sora do the next Donkey Kong I thought alot of Brawl's platforming fit the Donkey Kong gameplay perfectly.

Either way i will go ape shit if Donkey Kong is revealed. Other then Pikmin the DK franchise is my favorite Nintendo property!

I hope it is like the Country games. I worry it could be like...well....

Barrel Blast was horrible. I think it would have been better if it was launched on GameCube and used the Bongo's like it was supposed to be. But I found the controls to royally blow on Wii. I wanna see Diddy and all the other Kongs return and what about King K. Rool. Nintendo ditched them all in Jungle Beat and don't get me wrong Jungle Beat was decent but I would rather see a return to the Rare way of making DK games.

Wow I'm more psyched for E3 now then ever too be honest I'd rather see a new DK then a new Zelda anyday. I'm just worried I'll be let down like E3 2006 when DK never showed up.

Heres something that might amuse you.

A - Rare sucks mostly now, but their old games are AWESOME

B - Nintendo sells Rare

C - MS buys Rare, and doesn't have real success. (sidenote - also its at a time where Rare are apparently being told to make casual/mainstream market Natal titles)

D - Nintendo reanimates classic Rare titles to appeal to core lovers of old Rare (DK and Golden Eye pretty much confirmed).

= SUPER RARE ERA PROFITS

Its a bizare kind of coincidence isn't it? Same year as Goldeneye.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Wait wasnt that announced in the last issue of Nintendo Power?

O.o I don't think so....I thought Sonic Colors was the big NP release. I'm not sure what the Official Nintendo Magazine reveal was though. I should check back on that thread but I don't think that was in there either.

Are you for real? You mean to say that it wasn't Donkey Kong in space, (at least that's what I saw)what a let down.

*Edit aw no i broke my post

Your joking right?

RetroStudios, Retro Studios was founded in the 90's as a Nintendo exclusive developer they had about four projects in the works for the GameCube. Nintendo quickly aquired them and all of their projects were cancelled. However the studio was given the Metroid liscense and created all three Prime games. Retro is often considered NOA's jewel and flagship studio.

That was... Beautiful! I'd want to add, that some of Retro's employees used to work with Iguana Entertainment, the creators of the Turok games on the N64. (Another great trilogy, but not even in the same universe as Metroid Prime.)

Hold on, i LOVE the Turok series, except for the 3rd one. It is unfortunate that it is underappreciated.

Damn!  After NSMBWii's success, I had my money on a 2D DK game made by Nintendo for release this Christmas.  Still I'll be very happy is this is true.

Oh Metro Prime!! I must have gotten a temporary mind-block or something.

Now I really hope this rumour is true. They're perfect for making a new DK.
