That's no excuse for something that had no purpose in the story. Such births in myths actually went somewhere with those. You don't just throw in elements like that if you aren't going to do things with them.
Plus getting Anakin padded out the middle of the movie, which is objectively far worse than anything Jar-Jar did, in terms of raw minutes of time we didn't need on Tatooine.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
