Forums - Nintendo - No Castlevania Lords of Shadow for Wii/DS to avoid “family friendly Version

Train wreck said:

Developers are not afraid of the will as you pointed out, they just have access to data.  And the conclusion they get is that a game of this calibur will not sell (or sell well) on the Wii.  The DS Castlevania games has been declining in sales with each new release, Konami is just looking for a new dart board to throw at.

How are they reaching that conclusion when Wii doesn't HAVE that type of game from a big brand?

Lol, just making excuses again... pathetic.

If they want to say "We don't think the audience is there for a game on the Wii or DS" -- that is one thing.

But to make the inane comment -- we'd have to do a family friendly version for it to sell and we don't want to do that -- is just unecessary.

To be honest, if the numbers on this site are accurate, Castlevania is not a big seller any more. So it could be a lot of good money chasing bad.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Im sure they are going off the success of Kojima and MGS4 and not the DS titles and the one failed Wii title.  With Kojima's company at the helm, im sure Komani is looking for a reboot of the series and I believe that Kojima style is not family central.

Some people really exist in an ass-backwards world, don't they?

LOL calm down man.

Honestly I found this hilarious, it's as if the other Wii Ware and Judgement wasn't really dark and brooding.  I admit the first 2 on the DS weren't but the third really tried to go back to the roots and was praised for it.  (also for the sales declining, that's kinda what sequels do, it's REALLY rare that a sequel sells better)

Poor choice of words, though I am a Castlevania fan, I'm not really caring about this game, I hope it turns out to be good since most 3D Castlevania games don't, but also making it into Bayonetta Castlevania edition isn't to my personal liking.  I just don't think action is a good route for the series especially if they're trying to appeal to the fans, if not then why keep the name?  Why not have the same theme but call it something else, I felt the same way about judgement though I was more okay with that simply because fighters are fighters and it's always fun to be like "well ___________ can beat _______!!!" it's great for "settling" those debates.

Keeping my eyes open but not expecting anything much like every 3D Castlevania since the N64 lol

DixieKong should make a comic showing Iwata pointing a gun at this producers head.

Iwata: "Make it Family Friendly!"

Producer: "Never!"

Iwata: "Then you'll die!"

Producer: "BANZAI!!!"

But Kojima is supervising this one.

No, you're just showing you haven't looked at the sales of ANY Castlevania game.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
