Forums - Nintendo - No Castlevania Lords of Shadow for Wii/DS to avoid “family friendly Version

Well the comment was unneccessary but I'm surprised by all the hub-bub about it.  As while Konami may have been the one to say it, it's obviously a sentiment share across the industry now.  How many 'core' games is Wii getting nowadays?

Except they got it backwards, Castlevania isn't mainstream enough for Wii.   It's too much of a 'gamers' game and not something most Wii owners would look at, and I agree with that and so do sales.      For a game like this to have real success on Wii it needs a universally known brand like Star Wars, or Spider-man and probably simplified gameplay.

There you go,  Castlevania - The Twilight Edition - That'd sell millions on Wii to all those young ladies.

No no no, developers NEVER, NEVER, NEVER ever tried to put "gamers games" on the Wii.

You understand?  NEVER!!!

/sarcasm

i guess they also took into consideration the fact that Castlevania Judgement didn't sell on Wii

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Maybe not Lords of Shadown, but I actually imagine a 2d retail Castlevania actually selling rather well on the Wii.

Unfortunately given this statement, that unlikley to happen, so I'll never know.

The comments about the DS are utter bullshit though

It's worth noting that these comments don't actually come from Konami, but rather the head of Mercurysteam.  Who isn't even a licensed DS/Wii developer btw.

I guess Nintendo will have to settle for getting the actual CV games, actually made by Konami, rather than outsourced Clone of War with the IP haphazardly grafted on...

Wait, what?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

figures....

Wait, what?

Lords of Shadow wasn't originally a Castlevania game.  In fact, it didn't become one until about halfway through development, when they also stuck Kojima's name on it.

Dave Cox begs to differ.

As he says: They were asked to pitch for a new Castlevania game, and the game was originally gonna be a remake of the original game.

So yeah, what you said is kind of misinformed.

I've seen the interview, it's revisionist history, likely to help ingratiate the game with series fans.  Lords of Shadow predates Konami's involvement even, though it was pitched as a CV game upon being picked up.  For awhile it was going to be just "Lords of Shadow" too, no CV title.
