I honestly think there is a great problem with 3D that everyone is missing -- GLASSES.

Not the ones the 3D displays make you wear. The ones that many of us have to wear to see -- making it impossible to wear (and have work) the 3D glasses.

I bring this up because to show that the pillars listed are built with sand.

Likewise, how different is an Internet-enabled TV to an Internet-enabled console?

And finally, what is the difference between today's motion control and the "waggle" of four years ago?

I think that everyone might be looking for something different sooner rather than later.

I played stereoscopic 3D at GDC using my glasses and it was gorgeous. I was playing DiRT2 without any problems. I don't think you understand how 3D works.

Ahh, cool to hear. Was it DIRT on a huge screen, PC version?

Can u elobare on that "I dont think u understand how 3D works" part?

Wii-2 next year is something I'd bet on.

It was a 42" LCD and yeah it was the PC version.

Also I think he's thinking of anachrome 3D, where you're using red and blue tinted glasses to give a poor illusion of true stereoscopic 3D, which doesn't function the same way. It also requires glasses, but the type most gaming companies are using are active 3D glasses, where the glasses themselves are liquid crystal displays which interface with the TV, thus delivering the image directly between the interaction of the two displays, rather than a simple color filter giving the illusion. The experience is much sharper and more complete, and it's nothing like the old multi-colored glasses technology of anachrome 3D.

Well I've predicted Wii2 in 2011 since the launch of the first Wii. Fact is Nintendo revealed early on that they had an HD console in the works (E3 2006). Will Microsoft and Sony actually hold off and will Nintendo start a new generation? No Sony and Microsoft aren't stupid and they both have platforms ready right now with Microsoft's next one all ready getting games (Job postings on Gamasutra last year indicate Microsoft has begun developing games for the next X-Box).

So given statements by Nintendo and Microsoft their next consoles are already in the final stages of development and rest assured they are just waiting for the right time to pull the trigger on the current generation. I think Microsoft might reveal their next console on monday with the console slated for a 2011 release, or they may wait to see how Natal performs this year and reveal their next console X11 or E3 2011 with a Christmas release. Sony has yet to let anything slip about their next console oh wait the teaser trailers for PS4 show that they are at least beginning to ponder the next console.

I think Microsoft will kick start the next generation next year. I expect the 360 to start loosing more market share to PS3 this next fiscal year. I also expect Nintendo to also continue loosing some market share. Sony is the only company without much to gain by launching the next generation. But when Microsoft looses more market share they will be hard pressed and will likely reveal their next platform.

I don't expect Wii2 at this E3, I'd say next E3. I expect NextBox next E3 possibly a teaser at this E3. PS4 I expect in 2012!

Heck I should be an analyst lol

Yeah, I don't think a simply upgraded Wii with HD resolution will be enough. I'm thinking they will be releasing their new console with more than just that, a completely fresh idea in gaming will come along.

I do however believe that Wii is on a rapid decline now in terms of support and fuzz and I also think that Nintendo can't allow MS and Sony to be ahead 2 gens in terms of graphics, so they should be having a head start. Holidays 2011 is almost a certainty.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Nintendo is following new business strategies now, so we can't look at their past and say it will be their future. We also can't assume that they will follow an analyst's expectations based on old business strategies.

A new console is certainly in the works (as one always is at Nintendo). But it's not a "Wii HD", with only HD graphics as the selling point. Expect more than that.

Wii 2 as the Generation igniter? As much as I would love to see an affordabe and graphically superior Wii 2 competing with Ps3 in 2011, I doubt very much that it'll happen. Why would nintendo puncture the slowly deflating Wii balloon? Have they gotten tired of almost single-handedly supporting their own system game-wise ?? I think they'll let microsoft shoot themselves in the foot again.

I wonder what they could offer for 250USD in 2011 or 2012. Right now, my guess would be; smooth 1080p/60p 2xAA DirectX11 graphics in 3D via AMD's Evergreen series graphics cards, thinner Wiimotes with noticeably improved responsiveness and sensitivity, some proprietary Blu-Ray variant disc medium, at least 1GB GDDR5 of RAM, HDMI 1.4 and USB 3.0 ports, an SDXC card slot, 16GB or more of NAND Flash, backwards compatiblity with Wii and GC with HD upscaling, some cheap and surprisingly amazing feature that almost everyone finds appealing. I hope it uses Firefox or Chrome, instead of Opera.

2011 feels more likely than it used to.

Yeah, it'll appen. Why not?

It'll launch with some new Blue Ocean game, at least as big as Wii Sports Resort.

There'll be a new 2D Mario within six months of launch.
