Forums - Microsoft - MS on Natal: The future of entertainment is here!

Natal 'really is revolutionary' says the European Xbox boss.

The future of home entertainment - like that seen in sci-fi movies - will be in stores this Christmas. That future is Project Natal, says Chris Lewis, VP, Interactive Entertainment Business, EMEA, Microsoft.

"Ten years ago we launched the original Xbox, and ten years on we are launching Project Natal, which will free people from the controller for gaming and entertainment," Lewis told MCV. "It will work with every Xbox 360 and when you get to use it across different games and entertainment experiences it really is revolutionary."

Lewis concluded: "We've all seen similar things in films set in the future, but that future is here and will be on the shelves for Christmas."

Microsoft is lifting the lid on Natal during a special showcase event on Sunday evening. Look out for coverage shortly after.

Show me the good games and I'll believe it!

I'm pretty interested in what MS will be showing for Natal.  I think it's unlikely I'll buy Natal for Natal only games, I'm much more interested in it, as a controller for the system functions (netflix etc) and how it can augment more traditional games.  For example, I'm really interested in how Lionhead is going to incoporporate it into Fable III.

Of course it is. Like Microsoft Surface.

Above: still the best game of the year.

To turn to a famous quote... "Well, he would say that, wouldn't he?"

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

wonder what ever happened to that, it just sorta disappeared. Sure the are still selling them, but why haven't they shown off the next generation?

  Kinect! who needs video games!

I really hope this isnt where console gaming is going. I means natal is cool and all but i am on a football team for my city i am usually tired after practice so i can't really jump around that much. Next gen the company that still has a standard controller will earn my money.

A company praising their own technology?? It's unreal!!!

Natal is interesting though :}D

It's too expensive with limited appeal.  Just like the Courier project would've been as a retail product.

I would have bought the courier in a heart beat. That thing looked so cool when it was first leaked back in november or so!
