Destructoid is reporting that Nintendo will be launching a brand new Animal Crossing title alongside their upcoming handheld, the 3DS. A demo has allegedly been shown to developers and publishers, with an announcement prepared for next Tuesday. Naturally, Nintendo only provided a brief comment, explaining that the company “does not comment on rumors or speculation.” We’ll find out if there’s any truth to this rumor next week at E3.

Well, the only Animal Crossing I've played was the one for the Wii. I rented it, and it was pretty fun, but it seemed like the same thing over and over again, so I decided not to buy it. Maybe the 3DS edition will have some new elements/features that will make it more exciting.

It worked better on the DS anyway.

Please, don't... I was supposedly saving money to buy the 3DS after a great title is avaliable. Looks like it'll be day one for me. Sigh... I sense my money flying away.

Besides, mysticwolf: City Folk sucks; Wild World is the greatest among three.

 Omg, that'll be so awesome if true. Means that I can start fresh in a new town, rather than pulling out all the weeds from my existing DS one :P . 

Hopefully they update the game a bit too, with more activities and a bigger town to explore. Also, with the rumoured graphical power of the 3DS, it should look very nice :D. 

I agree, I hated City Folk, I hope that Nintendo adds alot of new content for the 3DS version because City Folk was just WildWorld with a city and I was totally dissapointed (Though I did buy it).

More items are needed and new things to do maybe different career paths to choose rather then just working for Nook. Add some new activities and maybe some new music. Add new characters and maybe more online functionality.

Nintendo really dropped the ball with City Folk lets hope they do a better job on the 3DS!

hopefully its true, really liked the ds game alot. the wii game wasnt that bad, just not really good like the ds game.

I WANTED MARIO KART 3DS

Seems likely, it makes sense to have a sequel to one of the DS's biggest game at launch with NSMBWii releasing not too long ago, and a new DS Pokemon already announced, that only leaves a couple of options including Animal Crossing. If they are creative 3D could be a cool feature in Animal Crossing, I'm looking forward to hearing more next week.

What's so bad about City Folk? It seemed good when I rented it.

I actually prefer city folk and didn't like WW. I hated that they took out the real world holidays, also City folk felt like the better version
