That was a fair descision actually, the goalkeeper sets the offside marker not the last defender.

This is those kind of decisions that in other conditions it would easily be considered a goal. After the 2005 revision of law XI, offside positioning has been seriously bad judged. After visioning the play again, I agree that he was offside. But if it was the other way around, I would bet you 100$ that it would have been a goal

hahaha, I'm gonna disagree because I believe the matches are fair. I know everyone think S.Korea's progress was rigged but I think they played out of their skins and got lucky once in a while.

Come on, even if you believe the matches were fair, you can't possibly say that for the S.Korea - Italy match. S.Korea should have ended that match with two less players and there were two penalties to be signalized against S.Korea. Every professional commentator and magazine around the world said that S.Korea passed that match under strange circumstances.

S Korea / Spain 2002 is a better exemple for strange decisions.

It's on ITV1 in the uk, BBC1 and ITV1 are the guys who show the worldcup games, thanks to the government, Sky will never get their hands on it anytime soon :D.

As for S.Korea I think it's more down to terrible referring descisions rather than a Fifa conspiracy. Yes the Italy game was dubious but at the same time, Italy had a copious amount of chances to kill the match off but didn't take any of them and as a result paid for it, you only win games if you take your chances.

I agree with your last statement, because the same thing has happened for Portugal, especially in the qualifying match against Denmark in Copenhagen. Most Portuguese fans were complaining that we had a bad offside ruling which denied us the chance to win the game (we drew 0-0), although they often forget that Portugal had 36 shots on goal, thus it was only a matter of not taking advantage of your chances.

I'm not saying there's any kind of conspiracy, it's just that FIFA has always had a thing for favoring home side teams in the WC. UEFA does it too. Even Portugal was a bit favored in 2004 as well. It would be bad for business if the home team got eliminated early on the competition.

Although that 2002 WC was very atypical. Portugal, Argentina and France got eliminated early on, Senegal went to the quarer-finals and USA had their best WC participation as well
