Thats what I thought of when I first read this. I am thinking it will be a Tablet PC running Android OS. Hence the partnership with Google a while back. Its starting to all make sense now. |
i hope they can pull this off!!

Tokyo - It's starting to look like more than a schoolyard crush. As Sony (SNE) scrambles to recover from billions of dollars in losses, a flirtation with Google (GOOG) is becoming serious. It's the first PC maker to sell machines pre-loaded with the search giant's Chrome Web browser; the Sony Reader will be able to download e-books in a format backed by Google; and Sony Ericsson cell phones will use Google's Android operating system.
"The company says it also may let Google and others create applications for its PlayStation 3 game console. "Open technologies are very important to consumers," Schaaff said in an interview last year. "Obviously we don't have a monopoly on innovation."

notice this line:
"Chief Executive Howard Stringer four years ago put Apple (AAPL) veteran Tim Schaaff in charge of software. Last February, Stringer reshuffled top management, turning to younger executives who are, he said at the time, "network-centric and very open-minded." Cozying up to Google helps Stringer speed development of products that can tap into the Web.
well there may indeed be a new PSP info released but i think it may infact be Android Based with the XMB stack inside the Android OS.
both may infact be a big the big suprise for E3.
Google TV for the PS3 as a added application like the :
MLB.Tv was for the PS3
and maybe even a PSP2 hybrid Android Device with WiMax enabled connectivity maybe even 4G enabled also.
and this once again:
"The company says it also may let Google and others create applications for its PlayStation 3 game console. "Open technologies are very important to consumers," Schaaff said in an interview last year. "Obviously we don't have a monopoly on innovation."
this may infact lend some credence to the "Other OS" was not only removed for security but this way there is one unified Linux platform on the Playstation 3. since the App's are java based for Android
the application's under review should be easy for Sony to approve or not:
like the MLB. TV application for example.

Wow so this is why SONY anoucned so many games befor EE3, if they have all this stuff to show off too then.....wow
If it really is about PSP2, all this tells us is that SONY's working on making multi-media more fluent, present, broadening the different kinds we have and making them very accessible. It's either that, or we're getting a big addition to the PSStore services for current hardware.
4 ≈ One
Yeah but if they do have all of this stuff to show off then why didnt Sony get another hour time slot like Microsoft did for Natal this year?
I hope Sony just has an announcement packed E3 without all of the typical fluff that is stuffed into E3 announcemnts.
I really hope we hear about the partnership with Google nad how that has influenced the new premium PSN
-We know we are going to hear about the Move
-We know we are going to see new trailers and gameplay for all of the recently announced games
-We know we are going to see new announcements and at least a few suprises (regarding games)
But I am not so sure we will see a new PSP at this E3.
They will probably issue a price drop or something. I would love to see the PSP2, and it would make sense to counter the announcement of the 3DS, but I am still not convinced it will be there.
and @ OP, I think we are looking at Sony's answer to the ipad.
