I've got a feeling they will announce playstation 4..

and guess what? The playstation 3 we all have will be playstation 4..

imagine they unlock the spu on the ps3 that isn't used, and bundle it with MOVE/3D GAMES/3D MOVIES and call it the ps4 lol it would work

Don't forgot another of the SPU's was dedicated to the other OS, so now there are two unused SPU's

*2 extra SPU'S to play with
*redesigned xmb
*PSN subscription
*Move
*3D gaming

so I agree they could be saying the PS3's new self is that different it could class itslef as the ps4

Uhm, how the hell would there be two extra SPUs to use in future PS3s? All of a sudden, the XMB (or whatever it will be called if it's redesigned) will not require one? And no way Sony will create PS3s with one extra functional SPU. Developers can create games with slightly better graphics, but alienate the entire current PS3 userbase. No way.

I agree with the rest, but the PS3 will remain every bit the hardware it is now.

Sorry i meant SPE'S!! The ps3 has 7 of them, 5 for gaming 6th for the other OS and the 7th is locked

unlock the 7th via an update and the 6th isnt used for other OS anymore, hense two free SPE's and this is with ALL PS3'S so there would be no alienating which you speak of

What would your reaction be if they did unveil PS4 at E3, with a 2011 release date Q4?

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

No, the Cell in the PS3 has 8 SPUs. One is used for the OS (that's the XMB, OtherOS never had a dedicated SPU as it never ran at the same time as a game), six are used for gaming, and the last one isn't used, because not all PS3s have one. The reason the last SPU isn't in every PS3, is because Sony had trouble manufacturing Cell-chips with all eight SPUs intact when the PS3 launched, so in order to produce enough PS3s (and not throw away too many broken chips), it was decided that the PS3 should only use seven SPUs.

ok sorry, learnt something new today! which ones had less then? was it a specific model?

It was random. It just meant that Sony didn't have to throw out the chips with only seven working SPUs, so they were just used randomly. Sony probably still get chips with only seven working SPUs from time to time these days.

Basically  its version 4.1 firmware if you turn it around 3d and posssibly psn premium service.

you guys don't get it.. the PS3 IS THE PS4!!

IT ONLY IS EVERYTHIGN!?

like i said, i think they're trying to make the ps3 look like the PS4 with the move 3D....

Which would be a good idea because supposedly 4 is an unlucky number in Japan...i think...basically..4 is 3. So when the new console hits, it would be referred to as the Playstation 5. (?)

Yup! you are right 4 is a unlucky number in some countries in asia mostly in China, Korean and Japan.

4 has the same pronounciation as death in Japan. This is for all those who doesn't know about it.

This is, to my knowledge, derived from Chinese - the Chinese are a lot more serious about seeing 4 as an unlucky number, worse than the West is abotu the number 13. If you live in very dense Chinese neighborhoods, you'll find apartment complexs that don't have a fourth floor, so to speak.

And yeah, it's because "four" and "death" have a very similar pronunciation, with the only real difference being in inflection.

Modern Warfare 2 Going 3D on the PS3?

trumpeting the "PS4" also drops a half second hint that we may be seeing Modern Warfare 2 in 3D in the near future.

Like the first one, this viral ad takes place in a lab, with a consumer/gamer acting the guinea pig while presumably evil Sony scientists test out 3D gaming on them. After a while, the guy can't take the realness anymore, and freaks out.

His freak out happens to include a very quick flash of the TV showing the game's menu in 3D. (McWhertor's eagle eye spotted it at 39 seconds if you missed it the first time.)

We've yet to hear from Sony whether it's behind these or not. And it's pretty professional if it's a fake. Best guess? It's real, but the "PS4" isn't meant literally. Sony won't be unveiling a new console at E3. These are instead most likely ads for the PS3's new 3D capability, with the "PS4" bit perhaps a reference to how futuristic it makes gaming; as in, 3D gaming is so good it'll feel like a new console.

Yup, some hotels doesn't use doesn't have the 4th floor or any number that have 4 on it.

9 is also unlucky for them.
