Forums - General - 2010 FIFA World Cup??

I think we will learn a lot on Saturday -- USA v England.

If the English win big, they could go far.

If the Americans win, they might actually do something.

Given the USA's history in association football (commonly called soccer on this side of the Atlantic), I look for England to win 2-1. But both teams should make it out of that group.

And given it's the World Cup, I will take Brazil. Didn't Nintendo telegraph the results with the new DSiLL colors?

Still wondering why Europe gets so many teams in the World Cup compared to other continents.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

As a British man, I'm supporting England, i'd support Scotland or Wales or NI as well if they were in it.

And as my usual secondary team didn't make it this year, I'm also rooting for Ghana. They played some of the best football I saw in 2006 world cup, so different to the disgraceful spit of a game that was Portugal Vs Holland.

You might want to re-phrase that last statement (I know some English people still have a bit of a resentment because Portugal has managed to defeat them thrice in the last 10 years on official cups). That game went down as it went because of the Holland players interest of breaking Deco, Simão and Ronaldo's legs. And they actually managed to do it for Ronaldo. In every video you can see the smirk of Van Bommel's face after each violent tackle on Ronaldo.

If you want to blame someone for that game, blame that stupid mentality that they had on 2006.

I don't mind if portugal beat us fairly but whether or not the Holland players were disgraceful, I remember it being both ways even if one was dirtier then the other, there was diving and dirty play from both sides. It was a bad game, both for football and to watch. I don't see why I should rephrase it.

I've seen far worse games in both the WC and UEFA European Cup than that one. It's kinda hard to play good football when a team is out to get your players out, and you end up with 10 because of injuries and no more substitutions.

Even considering that, both Portugal and Holland did deploy a good strategy that was kind of balanced, so it wasn't all that bad.

Japan-Brazil on the group Stage was a far worse display of how football is played on the WC. Japan literally gave Brazil a free pass to score as many goals as they wanted, without even putting as much of a effort to strategy. One of the worst displays of collective football i've seen.

Im egyptian and despite our rivalry with algeria i wish them all the luck in the world as they represent north african football.

[ hey, playnext3, dont forget the 4-0 ;) ]

hi,thanks for all you support, and yeh no one forget that, but good luck for the 2014 world cup,

oh and about representing north african football or arab football, comon,we just gonna represent ourself, its not like if we loose all of our 3 matchs and have the worst world cup, people gonna say arab or north africain sucks, cuz Egypte now has the best team in africa,so you know what i meen!!!!!!!!!

Thanks dude, Algeria are still also a great team so i hope u qualify from group 1, and by the way, england isn't that tough really, u guys beat Egypt before and England struggled to beat Egypt on their own ground in their own stadium, although they won 3-1, it was on Wimbledon stadium, we scored first and they drew with us in the first half but Hassan Shehata, (our coach) decided to remove Mohamed Zidan for some reason in the second half (stupid idea) (Zidan was the 1st goal scorer) and he decided to let abu-trika and amr zaki play while they havent played for Egypt for about a year, these were the reasons why our offence collapsed, they scored the other 2 goals in the last 20 minutes and it was on their own stadium imagine if they were playing in our stadium, we could have easily pulled a draw.

Other than that, if Algeria is determined to advance in the world cup I believe that they could surprise the world! GD LUCK!!
