Forums - Sony - PlayStation 3 Consumers File Nationwide Class Action Lawsuit

This just sounds false...

If true, 1) that sucks and 2) I wonder how they will hand people that bought a PS3 used.

I bought my PS3Phat used for about $400 I believe (still even have the receipt!), would I get $200 if I say I bought it because of the Other OS?

Even if true, its only for "registered" PS3 owners.

Who registers their consoles here? I doubt there is more than 1 million registered PS3s in USA.

I can't find any of the info in the opening post on that web page, is that the correct source?

Damnit... hope this is false.

Why do you hope it is false? It does seem a little high to me, but I do want consumers to win the case

The PS3 since launch has been sold for a loss until recently but that loss was never as high as half of the system's MSRP. I hope it's false because of just how much money the could potentially lose from this. [Which depends on how well the media spreads the news]

I can definatly understand that. I do not feel sorry for them though, they are a company that makes their own decisions. They did not have to sell the system at a loss, that was their choice. Sony did not have to remove otherOS, either, that was their choice, as was advertising otherOS as a feature.

I guess that includes me.. since i registered my ps3 =P

It would be bad enough if it were true, but if it is it brings up some good questions:

  • Do you have to currently have the PS3?
  • If not, what about used owners?
  • If used owners get paid, does that mean Sony might just have to pay multiple times on a single PS3?

I bet it's fake, considering every PS3 sold since last September didn't have the feature to begin with

Why would that make it fake (hint: that's a rhetorical question, don't bother trying to answer it)?

What makes me suspect it might be false is if it were true you'd thing every gaming blog would pick up on it by now.  Hell, I'm sure the Sony Defense Force would already have a way of putting a positive spin on it.

the website was hacked by people desperate to doom the ps3, just look here sony is not due to go to court until later, this makes me one very mad person http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=110878&page=1&str=11763138#
