The PS3 since launch has been sold for a loss until recently but that loss was never as high as half of the system's MSRP. I hope it's false because of just how much money the could potentially lose from this. [Which depends on how well the media spreads the news]

I can definatly understand that. I do not feel sorry for them though, they are a company that makes their own decisions. They did not have to sell the system at a loss, that was their choice. Sony did not have to remove otherOS, either, that was their choice, as was advertising otherOS as a feature.
