If we are talking about a new console in two years time ... then I doubt it.
In four years, the PS3 has averaged 9M per year. On that average, it would add 18M, bringing its total to 53M.
In five years, the Xbox 360 has averaged 8M per year. On that average, it would add 16M, bringing its total to 56M.
Both of these totals are below 60M.
If new consoles do not come out until Holiday 2013 -- which is possible given the add-ons being introduced this year, it is possible that they might make 62M. (53 9=62 while 56 8=64).
This assumes constant sales, which we know is not true. But I thought that any declines that might come about because of age of console/maturity of product would be off-set by the new controllers.
(And as we get closer to the introduction to a new console, sales will probably slow considerably).
