Should I add every game I have ever played (played at least a decent amount) or just games that I currently own?

The reason why I ask this is because I want to rate games that I've played in the past (Fallout 3, Rock Band 2, ect)  but I have to add them to my collection to rate them.

I personally added the game's I own, mostly the current gen one's and excluding all my old stuff ( N64, PS2, SNES etc). I didn't include the one's I borrowed or rented because .. I'm lazy. Who cares though? As long as you've played the game and know your stuff then I can't see how it would be a problem. Hell, I didn't even know you could rate games on the site...

Be lazy and don't do it. =p

I haven't even all the games I own. I don't want to waste a hour.

i add all the games i currently own as well as all the games i previously owned, i still own most of my old games anyways so it's not like there's a difference :p

but if you need to add a game in order to rate it, well then i'd definitely add all your previous games, and even ones you rented too (i do that)

but why ask people what you should or shouldn't do? make your own decisions! :)

It's a very good question. I'm tempted to add all the games I ever played just so I can rate them.

I just have games I currently own in my game collection right now. It would be hundreds more if I counted games I borrowed from friends and rented. Right beside where it says "Now Playing, Favorite, Complete" they should add "Own". So you can add games youve rented and not feel like your home collection and VGChartz collection arn't in sync.

I think a lot of people add games they have owned at some point in time, but I think that goes against the idea of the 'own' section of the game library.

Its supposed to tell users what you have, what you want. Afterall, adding every game you ever owned is really just a pissing contest at that point. Rather pointless.

Plus, some games would get duplicated as almost every game in my VC is one I owned as a kid. I think it should only contian games you currently own. Hell my Wii library alone would be doubled based on the games I've bought, beaten, and sold on Ebay.

I like  novasonic's idea for an "Own" tag in a person's game DB, it'd be simple to do but it's really convenient!
