Forums - Sony - I think Home will sell consoles

I think that not only will sell systems, but it will sells x-times more games. One reason Live has been succesfull has been due to the achievements system, and it has created a new group of e-penis bragging gamers.

I bet that when Trophies will become available, there will be a boost in sales of new and older games.

I dont own a 360, but achievement appeal to me greatly.IF I had one I would probably do what I could to attain a huge achievement score, but instead I plan to be there from the start on the PS3 and their trophies, which I think will actually be much nicer.

Dont know if it will sell consoles or not but it will definitely be a differentiating point for the console and will lend it a new style of its own .

Besides ,FishyJoe ,the rooms or apartements for interacting are resctricted to 50 people and you have to have them in your contacts to interact with them .So no baby-rapist son of a bitch around hopefully ,unless you add them to your contacts thats it ...

I don't know if it will sell consoles, i'd lean towards it wont.

However, I think Sony is heading the right direction as Live has always been lauded for the community. What better way to make a community than with virtual representations, integrating many new things. to ability to interact with people on your friends list in creative ways and using home as a staging ground for user created content and inviting people to play games seems like a great idea.

If companies have spent huge ammounts of money producing and marketing similar systems and have difficulty getting people to click on a link on a webpage to check out their entirely free service, why are people going to spend $400 on a system to get a similar service?

People bought into XBox live because it provided a solid (uniform) online gaming experience on a console and Microsoft ensured that the content was there for people to play. Home doesn't offer much in terms of a gaming experience and I haven't heard much about anything that Sony is bringing to make people care about home at all.

I think the Home concept is interesting and will sell a few more PS3s in the long run, but nothing major.

And if I understand correctly, you can skip the 3d blah-blah and just use it like Live.

Home will be the best game ever... wait... it's not a game? Oh well... Um...

Never in any generation has something along the lines of home, an optional feature, ever been a selling point. People aren't out there waiting for Home to buy the PS3. And if people are then really just turn the damn PC on and get Second Life for free.

I mean it could be a minor selling point but it's nothing huge in that scenario.

Um...Home has been done before. If you buy a PS3 just for Home....you have too much money...gimme some.

I don't think it will sell systems, but I'm sure it will be a welcome feature. Either way, if people don't like it, it is purely optional so they won't have to use it. As long as it's free and optional you really can't complain.
