i hav to admit that after a few hours of leanring im a huge fan of this new lay out. shore it takes a bit longer to find stuff but not that much. i also like how it doesnt seem to charge you a penilty for changing a pic cos i never realy understood that.
i can honestly say that the site is WAY better than it was when it first released. im becoming happy with the changes (easily rated games FTW
), but i still have some issues(mainly bugs that have already been stated), which im sure will be resolved. and i admit that i was not at all enthused with the new look originally. but its growing on me.
i do have some questions for ioi though.
1: i know that the gamrfeed page will soon be customizable(which is really cool), including color right? excuse me if i missed you already answering the question. and if it does, will that carry over into the rest (or atleast most) of the site, such as forums? not a big deal, but i think it would be a great addition.
2: i know you dont like the idea of color coded stuff (threads, stories, ect>), but do you think that could be an option for users? if not colors, than (like someone before me said) maybe tags that tell you the general focus of the thread/news story.
3: will i ever see my kitty sig again? i really miss it.
and id also like to say thanks for the hard work and dedication your putting into the new site. if anybody deserves a thanks its you. goodluck on further adjustments.

With 3.0, there is now a delay before new users can start making threads. I believe you must have 100 posts and been around for one month, but I'm not sure on the specifics.
I predict that people will cannibalize each other's points breakdown with adding new game banners.
Boutros reported that he seems to lose points and did not get new points for his new game banners a few posts earlier in this thread and oliist explained on Boutros' wall how the system works (I saw this thanks to the new Activity Feed feature):
"If you replace a banner that's originally one of your own former accepted ones, you don't get points for it a second time.
If someone else submits a banner that replaces one of yours, your counter goes down by one."
When VGC 3.0 went live my points breakdown told me that I had added 421 game banners during the 2.0 era. I spent a lot of time on creating and adding those >400 banners (many of them for very old games), but now I won't bother replacing my own old ones, because I won't get points for them anyway. At the moment I'm at 418 banners according to my points statistics, i.e. 3 of mine were replaced by others (which is okay, eventually all of them will be replaced) and 75 points were retracted according to oliist's explanation. The loss of points is not only a bit frustrating but also unfair imo, because eventually the system just rewards our banner contribution to VGC 3.0 and not to 2.0.
BTW: Search for games without boxarts was already implemented a long time ago, but It would be great if we could also search for games without game banners.

You appreciate the hard work that disimproved the vgchartz experience? That makes no sense. |
I appreciate the intent, and while I see some problems SO FAR, I thik it will be sorted in time. Now, back to regular scheduled programming.

ioi, I have another problem and it's a biggie.
Where are Super Mario Galaxy 2's first day sales for America? ;_;

Why do these sites look unfinished. I'm sorry but the design is pretty poor to be honest. There is no distinction between parts of the page meaning my eye wonders all over the place. Design should lead the viewer around the page. You could have redesigned better without splitting domains. The main VGCharts page has light grey tables on a white background! Why? any one with any design knowledge should see this as a problem. I'm not going on about it, the site is now a chore to navigate as a user and I'm sure that was not the brief for the re-designers, either get your money back or ask them to fill the brief. Simple, clean, easy to navigate and all the main info in one place.
