| CGI-Quality said: To the Damon Jones/Michael Jordan thing, sure Jordan has been widely accepted as the greatest basketball player of all time, I can agree to that. Whether or not he IS the best can be disputed though, just like this here. When something is indisputable, there is no argument, and therefor the of it can't be of much use, making more than inferior, but pointless/useless. This article and your example can both be disputed and the opinions regarding them aren't useless/pointless. Also, you say Ninja Theory's opinion has been disproven, again I ask you, what dev is "indisputably" better? How was it disproven? I know you'll find a way to just say I'm wrong and you're right, as usual, which is one of the reasons I try to avoid debating with you. |
You avoid debating with me... because I find a way to be right. No offense, but when people keep finding a way to be right in debates with me, I consider the fact that I may be wrong. It's easier that way because then I can change my opinion and be right. You can find proof on this on this very subject where i'm sure I've argued before that opinions can't be wrong on this board... until I had a very interesting conversation with soemone where i realized opinions actually can be wrong.
Either way... I think Magic Johnson is the greatest basketball player, and can provide enough facts to make a credible arguement out of it. I wouldn't begrudge anyone who said Michael Jordan or Bill Russel was the greatest either.
Damon Jones though... no. Or a less insulting comparison. Kobe Bryant.
Miyamoto is by any objective measure I can see the greatest developer. I could see arguements for a few others, like Will Wright, Sid Meyer and even the guy from Farmville.
As for Naughty Dog... there just is no credible arguement for it for "best developer in the world" unless you use some VERY heavy qualifiers. Like "best graphical console developer." Which were not used. More on that in the next post though.
The main difference here though is the difference between "Greatest" and "Favorite."
They are two very different things that two many people combine because they treat their opinions as universal truth.
Because you like a game best isn't even remotely a valid arguement for why someone or something is the best.
Most people who think Michael Jordan are the best can't freaking stand him... because he destroyed their favorite teams.
