pretty good

Can you imagine if Sony becomes the first to really penetrate a market potnetially bigger than the U.S.  Granted, that potential won't be realized for a long while, but still.  These expansions into places with little or no competition is very smart by Sony.  They're setting themselves up for future success.

Good move Sony This strategy will do them good IMO in the longrun. And also, 180k for GoW3 alone... thats a pretty big chunk from tghe EMEA numbers

EU is already as big as the US and only getting bigger. In 5 years we won't ask who the bigger market is anymore, it'll be pretty clear. And it's obvious, 800 million people vs 300 million. Now if you add all of America's, then both markets will probably stay pretty similar.

Other important markets to break into that no one has broken into yet is the BRIC market:

Brazil, Russia, India, and China, alltogether that's about 2.5 billion people. These countries are developing rapidly and experts agree that they'll continue growing in the next few years. Granted piracy runs extremely high there, but let's say someone can break into those markets and sell to only 10% of those people, that's 250 million consoles, more than the PS2 and PS1 put together. More than the DS, more than Wii will sell LTD. That's a risk worth taking IMO.
