Nas is my favorite. I'm digging that Distant Relatives CD right now. Got the new Reflection Eternal but haven't really listened to it. I also like Common, Talib Kweli, and Andre 3000. The latter needs to drop something soon. I listen to a lot of other mainstream pop/rappers too.

OutKast is hopefully coming out with an album this year, thats what they are slated to do anyways.

Yeah, 911 cop killer was some crazy shit.

nas is obviously the man, along with other 90's rappers from the New York scene.

The best lyrics in my opinion are those that don't have any important message to convey.  Meaningful lyrics are usually overrated.  It's the fun ones that i like.  That might be the reason why OP doesn't like little wayne.  As an entertainer his lyrics are good, and that's all you can really expect from him seeing as he's a pop star.  Selling out is always going to piss people off.  Especially those that don't understand that everyone sells out.

I have no problem with fun lyrics. It's bland and unoriginal stuff that I don't like, I want to see some diversity, not rapping about the same shit over and over, the stuff he raps about has in essence been done a million times, and it gets bland and quite honestly annoying after awhile. Now I have no problem with him, and if people like him, but its people who claim he's one of the best that pisses me off like I said before, he doesn't deserve that title, not even close.

Yak town rapper FTW!

I posted 4 Cam'Ron videos above. Cam'Ron although not a lyrical genius at times, is a very underrated rapper in my honest opinion. Going on almost 15 years in rap, he has always been able to remain fresh somehow and even improve. He seldom has the same flow on every track *cough*JR Writer*cough* and he's kept things movin.

The fact he still has a career right now is wonderous. He began when all the rappers of the time were systematically being killed. Tupac, dead. Biggie, dead. Cam's mentor, Big L? Murdered. Big L was the shining member of his group (Children of the Corn) and when he passed, few of his associates could weather that loss. Cam was relatively young (20?) and he still managed to salvage a career. Working on over 20 albums and dozens of mixtapes, he's still here. Beef with 50 Cent didn't kill him, nor did beef with Jay-Z. Even after he was shot, Cam came back out.

Just give credit where it is due.
