Forums - Gaming - We need to end 3rd party exclusives for good! Big budgets is one solution

Mainly because it is slowly but surely getting rid of this exclusive non sense for 3rd party developers.  I am sorry but unless the game is being made by 1st party or 2nd party it should be available to everyone.  I mean is the whole freaking point of being 3rd party in the first place.  Why call yourself independent and then only release games on 1 console.  Might as well sign up as a 1st or 2nd party.  Looking at call of duty 4 which I think is the best fps this year and how it was available for both 360 and PS3 with both versions rocking is what 3rd party should strive for.  Such a kick ass game should be enjoyed by everyone regardless of your console.

I know I sound bitter but man I hated the PS2 getting so many 3rd party exclusives.  I don't want the PS3 owners to have the same resentment just because so many 3rd party developers have chosen the 360.  I don't know maybe I am being too simple or naive but I if your 3rd party make it happen for everyone.  I am sure they are reasons why you can't always do this but at least try even if it takes longer to get the game out.

Many seem to dislike EA though by now people should know EA is really many different developers that where bought and they still have pretty good games.  Not saying EA is an angel but they are on the right path.

Basically I am hoping 3rd party games eventually means that it is coming to all the consoles.

By the way I know some 3rd party games may be only available for some consoles though I hope is more because of something especific to that console rather then some stupid contract.

One problem with multiplatform 3rd part apps is that the quality is not different between the platforms, and certainly with the PS3, the ports from the 360 seem to suffer when compared to the exclusive games wher the PS3 is the only console concerned. However, I too would like 3rd party games to stay exclusives, I would also like the consoles to come closer together, so that you could play against people on a different console, but I doubt that that is likely to happen in the near future

Why do 3rd company devs make games for one console?

1) Lower development costs. Making engines that work on multiple consoles takes longer/costs more than making one engine for a single console. This day and age though small devs would usually buy a 3rd party engine anyway.

2) Lower risk. Rockstar wasn't sure how well GTA3 would sell, so they decided to put it on a console as well as the PC. They picked the PS2 because it had the biggest userbase.

3) Optimization. MGS4 and FF13 are designed for the PS3 and will use the PS3's unique features (namely Bluray space.) Anything Nintendo makes for the Wii will use motion controls as a major feature. Compare this to Madden's add-on waggle for their Wii ports or complaints of suboptimal PS3 performance.

I'm sure if every developer had infinite time and money they would make games for all consoles. Sadly, reality sometimes sucks.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

In other words you hate the ps3 and are afraid its true power is unleashed with exclusive titles.

Bah I don't like multi plat games >< playing to both consoles weakness's blows :/ I mean look at madden on PS3 which doesn't even always hit 30 FPS >_>;;; then look at Ratchet and Clank Futures running at a silky smoothe 60FPS/720p/5.1 surround etc etc. No thanks ><. I say one way to cut down cost's on exclusive titles is to Share propriatary informtion (Don't charge for the damn dev kits!), that way the tech evolves at a 10 fold process, and more and more company's can  fully utilize what each system can do. But untill then, buh!

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Why should 3rd party developers be forced to make games on platforms they don't want to make games for?

I'd actually rather see more non-multiplatform games.  Let them spend their time making their game fricking awesome on a single platform and not sucktacular on two or three.

 Hmm, lol...

Anyway, I don't like multiplat, too costly and always worse off on one platform!

Because then we can all enjoy them.  Look if they try to do shit right like call of duty 4 you wouln't have thse issues.  We seen exclusives only available to 1 system also suck balls so not sure why is there a difference if it is multi.

For ps3 games its a huge difference. Graphicly PS3 exclusives look way better than multiplats in fact than any games on the XBOX 360(I say this because ps3 gets ports)

If your a X360 gamer your happy, for ps3 owners it sucks.
