Forums - Sales - BET: MNR to outsell Alan Wake!

Id say its as likely as ice cream melting in the sun.

Seriously

MNR - Huge appeal to casuals and hardcore online multiplayer modes and track edit and share online.

Alan Wake - Stunning Single Player game, incredible technical accomplishment. No Multiplayer, No online. Zero casual appeal.

I will be saving this thread as it seems interesting to see the outcome.

Cmon sum1 take the bet already =)

bugrimmar should take you up on your bet :p

@ kowen: from what I know, the ads here only came after the game launched, so it should do better next week imho (and sony is still advertising the game in other ways as well, so it's going to remain in the public eye a bit longer imho).

I should have created this thread like 2 weeks ago.. I'm sure atleast 10 guys would've liked to take this bet..

I believe that with some nice legs, MNR has a nice shot at beating AW's sales WW.

Any1 would like to take the bet?

The bet will end on the very beginning of the next year.

I would be suprised if MNR did not outsell AW and for referrence I own a 360.

Alan Wake is a good game but obviously the concept hasn't appealed to the EU gamer. Where as MNR is a proven concept it is hard to imagine it failing more then AW.

well it failed to jump the first hurdle... opened with a smaller week than AW did in EU.

That's to be expected though.   Alan Wake had 5 years of "best of x360" hype while MNR was announced less than a year ago.  Modnation will have big legs while Alan Wake will putter out quick.

And yet I have seen more advertising for MNR than Alan wake...

Alkan Wake has NOT had 5 years best of 360 hype.. thats a ridiculous statement.

Not saying I dont agree with your outcome but your reasoining there is nonsense.

Wow.  First off, note the quotation marks.  Second, why is my statement ridiculous?

Was the game not announced 5 years ago?  Since the game was announced have there not been a lot of people overhyping the game?  If you try to dispute that it was a very hyped game then you are either delusional or just kidding yourself.

If you are going to call my statements ridiculous and my reasoning nonsense, then at least have the decency to explain why.

The game was announced 5 years ago yes I dont remember AW being constantly hyped and promoted in that time and no there havent been"a lot" of people overhyping the game.....

its quite simple.....  you are massively generalising.

Maybe he's talking about other forums aswell.. I've seen quite some AW hype over the years on a couple of forums.. Although back then it wasn't a 360 exclusive.

Just something to observe, not sure what effect it will have on sales of AW though.

Here new release games normally retail for $105-$120. I think MNR's price tag is around $115. At the retailer I went to today (JB HiFi) Alan Wake was priced at $88. Occasionally 1st party PS3 titles will debut at $99 (God of War III), but I can't recall seeing anything at $88 in the first week after launch. Though I don't keep track of 360 pricing so maybe it's more common to have that price level on new releases on 360.

Even Lost Planet 2 has a >$100 pricetag for the 360 and PS3 versions.

I'm surprised anyone is doing a head to head for 2 completely different games. And I thought AW vs. Heavy Rain was a bit incongruous. I guess most people are so certain that Heavy Rain will outsell AW that there's no point in making it a match up any more.

I think AW will be a slow burner, but it's hard to get a read on how it will go in Others. Maybe it will capture the imaginations of 360 owners, but in reality online multiplayer is where 360 is at. AW II will have some sort of online and it will do a lot better.

(Completely off topic but worth noting Red Dead Redemption was totally sold out for both consoles)

I'm not beting that! ModNationRacers appeals to much more people than alan wake!
It's not going to be terribly successful, but it won't flop.

Alan Wake has a shot at doing that!

people said Alan Wake was canceled before E3 2009. What a hype...
