50 k in 2 days is not bad but come on RDR owned which led to slower sales.

And you won't see so many people going shopping in the first weekend it was possible to go to the sea after a first half of May when weather really sucked, so sales should really be considered good for everything, stores could have been totally desert.

From the way he's acting, you would have thought the game pissed in his cornflakes. He made an entire thread over some claiming it was a success and/or would sell like Mario Kart. |

I don't understand your reasoning for thinking that a game that has 1 week of data from the Others region won't hit a million....I could understand if 44k were it's WW 1 week sales but come on. In fact, if the game gets 56k copies it's first week in America and Japan, then it's already 1/10th of the way there. Add in a holiday season and a budget price and it's easy for it to cross the million mark. |
i'd haft to agree here. MNR has every chance to make 1m sold. any game for that matter has that chance as long as it's on the market.

yea. forgot that happend.
Damn, AW + MNR FW sales disappointing.
OT : Good numbers.
Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.
PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E
Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E
MNR isn't a total disaster, as it will probably have above-average legs, but I can't see how 54k FW for a game in such a popular sub-genre isn't disappointing.
And I'm not trolling it either because I want it to do well; it seems like a quality game, and it represents exactly the kind of diversification into "expanded audience" territory that the PS3 needs more of.
Wake is underperforming as well given the hype behind it and the ultra-long production.

Holy crap, quit trolling. How is an average of over 80 on Metacritic now considered mediocre? The fact that MNR wasn't hyped that much means it has a much better opportunity to sell through consistent sales and word of mouth than many other games (which I expect it to). It's 50k in one territory. Assuming it has a debut of about 70k in America (based on preorders), that's a worldwide launch of over 100k. Not too bad for a title that was never really that hyped in the first place. Plus, there's been a dozen commercials for it. It can only grow. Either way, stop trolling so badly and just go away. The debut was just fine. Just because it sold a modest amount in the first week in one territory doesn't mean it's automatically a flop (if that was true, many hit games this generation would be flops). Maybe you were just being incredibly sarcastic and unfunny, which amazingly, I would prefer. |
One thing to point out is it is indeed tracking under what Little Big Planet did. The game sold about 333k in it's first week and 176k in the Others region alone. ModRacer Nation did 50k, less than a third of Little Big Planet's sales. If we are to assume that thrend continues, it would be at about 107,483. Decent, but since most games have huge drop offs after a few weeks, this is a bad opening. Little Big Planet's sales started to fall after a while and ended up at about 30k a week. If this game isn't going to come out of the game strong, then I don't think it will end strong.
If allmost all the PS3 games weren't "bottle rocket" titles, then 50K in one region wouldn't be so bad. But since the first week is the strongest week, these sales are rather poor. It might break 1 million, but I don't seeing it selling over 1.5mil ever.

i don't doubt that MNR hasn't done particularly well, even if it is only for one region and a couple of days. that's unfortunate because it is an excellent game.
It isn't a hardcore title that has massive upfront sales, i think it's going to be more of a casual long legged game, so hopefully sales will continue and perhaps rise into the future. it certainly deserves it. it has that same giggle factor that LBP has.
