Forums - Microsoft - How do I get sound to my X360?

Until now I've mostly played my X360 with a SD TV lol but now I want to try to connect it to my PC monitor, but I thought of something. How will i get sound? The monitor doesn't have any speakers. I have a Logitech X-210 2.1-Speakerset to my PC if that helps (and it has "1 x linjeingång för ljud" which I think means "line-in for sound" a stereo 3,5 mm connection).

Btw, what video input do I use? The monitor is a Samsung 24" LCD Syncmaster 2443BW with DVI-D and VGA connections, but no HDMI.

Help please.

its not possible..

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

Buy the official xbox VGA adapter.

Comes with R and L RCA audio out. You can plug those in to your computers line-in and use the speakers using the computer.

This thing...

Oh. So how much does that cost? Because I would prefer a solution that would work for my future PS3 as well.

i believe their is an optical output also, if your speakers or cpu have an optical input

~50 bucks...but it wont work on PS3 :)

To be honest, you are kinda stuck with the gear you have...  There isn't a single solution that will work for xbox and PS3. You can see if there are any generic VGa adapters that have plug for both xbox and ps3, of some converter boxes that have VGA out for the monitor and component/HDMI in... but that already is getting too pricey.

I bought a cheap chinese copy of the microsoft cable shown in the picture above. I believe the official microsoft one costs $50, mine cost $7 on ebay. There is a slight quality reduction (slight fuzziness on the screen) but its not too bad, good enough for $7.

I'm pretty sure if you buy the microsoft one, it comes with an adapter for the white/red cable to hook up sound. I bought an adapter from red/white (forgot what their called, something like RCA) to 3.5mm male adapter and 3.5mm female to 3.5mm female so I could hook up my speakers.....

im too lazy to get the links right now

Buy that cable !!!

You can either plug it directly into your sound system OR do what disolitude said (I'm doing the same btw.)

PS3 has a seperate audio output and comes with cinch cables. You'll need to buy either a HDMI cable and a HDMI-DVI adapter OR a HDMI-DVI cable.

looks like you don't have optical input, so your best bet is the cable the other guy posted
