Forums - Sony - Rumor: PSN+ subscription details

I do think making cross game chat a premium feature is kind of a fail. That's not the kind of feature that should have a split user base.

I really hope they don't do that, too.  To me, the cloud saving and one hour demos are pretty awesome features -- it sounds like they've got enough new ideas that they don't have to gimp good ol' free PSN against experiences like XBL and Steam (by never adding cross game chat to it).

Too expensive! Thats gonna equal around £100, no way im i paying that

I agree. I hate paying $7 per month for Xbox, but $10 on PSN???? I know its optional but still...

Before people were saying "Ill never pay for online" and "$50 a year is too much" and now its "you got my money sony" and "good job sony"..

Granted You must pay to play online for xbox, but still, What happened to your never gonna pay?

The difference is that you're not paying to play online.

If you look at it, this is nothing like Xbox Live Gold. Did you read the article?

This is assuming the article is true, which we do have to assume if we assume that $10/month is the real price.

Yeah i konw its nothing like XBL, But people swore up and down they wont pay. So does that mean Paying for XBL is fine now? I know online is still free for PSN but your still paying, additional features or not. Just like Gold has additional features that silver doesnt, your still paying.

and Free online gaming > XBLG

i don't get this...

you know that this is nothing like xbl and that people "swore up and down" that they woudn't pay FOR ONLINE GAMING. so what is being argued here?

psn+ isn't required for online gaming. it's an added service like paying for a warranty. not buying the warranty won't make your purchase any worse (like not buying xbl).

My point is that if your goign to pay $10  (which is more than XBL) Whey not pay for the superior online service? Im happy that PSN isnt making people pay, but no matter what features are included in premium PSN, XBL will still be better, until they do a complete dashboard overhaul. So paying seems pointless if you have both systems.

IMO, of course.

We don't know what other features will come alongisde these PSN+ features.  I would expect for a much improved friends list for all users, for example, alongside these premium features.

Also, cloud saving, the PRP, and first hour demos for *all* games are features that this service will provide that XBL does not have.

I think it's somewhat silly that you're making statements about what people should buy based on a rumored and most likely incomplete feature list.

The features are very interesting, but it is making Xbox Live sound cheap.

People probably meant they wouldn't pay to play online when they didn't have to.  And they still don't on PSN.

THIS is how premium accounts should be done.  The extra features try to lure you into a subscription with their potential awesomeness, but you can still play your games online without it (plus use other features like facebook, netflix, etc).

Here is the reason i pay for XBLG.

50% Online

50 % Features

I dont care about exclusive demos or netflix, i dont give 2 shits about facebook on xbox. I care about the online aspect of it, including friends list, and the dashboard and then i care about the features which are parties and avoid players ect.

Until i can see the full list of premium PSN then i cant make a judge on it, but what iv seen, is your paying MORE for LESS. Sure you can get a free crappy game, like dinodash but thats not worth $3 more along with 75% of the features XBLG has.

Basically, if i had $10 and i had to choose between XBLG and PSNP, i would obviously go with XBL just because its more attractive and better along with more features. Also the community and i would save $2.

@Quiet Cool White Box

Sony knows that there is money in premium service and sooner or later, they will start making you buy PSN just like Gold. Mark my words.

XBL Gold is all about the Online and has very little to do with the features. And if PSN+ dosent get a remake and alot more features then whats being rumoured, and that requires a paid subscribtion, it will never reach XBL levels when it comes to paying customers.

$10 a month? I'm not that interested though I suppose stuff like a warranty makes me raise an eyebrow.

Incoming 'death' message being sent to old PS3's? :P

I'm not a fan of making cross game voice chat a premium feature.

If they change their approach at some point in the future to get all that revenue from charging for online gaming like MS is doing, more power to them.  It's a market, profit-driven choice.

However, as long as online gameplay remains free as it has since the PS3 launch, I consider it a huge benefit that PS3 owners have been enjoying.

And when the neXtBox launches, MS will have a problem if PS3 still offers free online: gamers will have to buy a new console and continue to pay for the privilege to play online, when they can alternatively get a cheaper PS3 and play online for free.  That's a harder sale to make than the one MS has been offering to date, which has put a cheaper 360 up against the more expensive PS3.  It may be rough trying to sell online gameplay if the hardware MS wants consumers to buy isn't sold at a discount to the PS3, like it has been.

As long as XBLG is superior to PSN and even PSNP, i will continue to pay for it and so will other people.
