Forums - Sony - Sony: PSP2 will be a download-only!!!

But wait wasn't the PsP go a epic fail ?

The only way I can see this working is if PsP 2 is more than just a gaming medium ...

Without having the physical retail market this could be disastrous.

I wouldn't say disastrous. They just need to make sure they get it right this time around.

The PSP go is the prefect example for why it could be.

i don't think he said it will be download only gosh hit whoring thread titles!

what killed the PSPgo?

Not having 3g. I would have loved mine alot more and used it alot more if it did.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Honestly I'm all for it, carrying bags of little cartridges or discs is lame, in my Go I have all the games I want, can pop it into my pocket and just go. No need for protective case with slots for cards etc crap. Also it prevents pirating, so even if they sell less hardware, they can profit from software sales where now it's the other way around.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Exactly it was the high launch price that really hurt the PSP Go.

3G support wouldn't make DD that bad. You could download at any time and any place, and you wouldn't be using up your bandwidth at home.

Outright stating they're competing with phones implies that at least one model of the PSP2 will have phone functionality. I wouldn't be surprised if they could all be used as phones though.

Please don't tie it to certain carriers. =/

Of course, the issue of BC still remains. Yeah, any PSP games we bought via PSN will probably be supported, but what about UMDs? UMD just seems like a waste of a format that shouldv'e been skipped over. At least with ps1/2/3 games, they're all discs that can be inserted into future consoles, thus why PS1 games are still supported (and I'm sure PS2 games will be re-supported in the future whenever they can get software emulation working).

I don't like the thought of owning games for a device that will probably no longer work in several years. Give us a way to transfer our UMDs to PSN, please!

I download most of my psp games as is, but if sony wants this to work on a grand scale they have to make a psp2 that has other features besides gaming.

Nope. People have common sense and brains and they refuse to pay $40 for a downloadable title that's what killed PSP go.

If Sony wants to go download only they must make sure that games fall into 5-15$ range.

So far only Apple gets it.

Why can't they see that almost no-one wants a download only console?
I mean a) they sell their games for months on end at the RRP. I never pay the RRP for any games, yet alone a psp one.
b) you can't even trade it in or sell it when youve finished so it's crap :P

I could go on and on.
