Do you think ingame graphics has reached the level of cgi quality in this generation?

Note, when talking about cgi, we're talking about cgi from video games. Not movies.

Not on consoles. Crysis is about the closest thing to it.

Nothing looks quite as good as this yet

I was thinking god of war III > god of war 1 and 2 cgi cutscenes.

Yeah probably, but that seems like an odd comparison.  I mean games in previous generations probably reached cgi cutscenes from something like the Sega CD.

Well, on the Nes, I never thought a game would look as good as Ninja Gaiden's (Nes) cutscenes. I was wrong.

On the Super Nes, I never thought games would be in full on 3D. Only Mode 7. I was wrong.

On the Playstation, I never thought games would look as good as a Final Fantasy 7 cutscene. I was wrong.

And, in the Gamecube, Xbox, PS2 era, I never imagined games could look much better than that. I was wrong.

So, to keep my streak going, I'll say this: Games will never look as good as a CGI cutscene!! It's impossible!!

you people overrate crysis like its a generation ahead in graphics...

OT:

GOW III and U2 have the best character models in ANY VIDEO GAME imo, and surpass the CGI IN FF XIII in detail

I guess. But standards change. Not even games today have visually surpassed cgi from previous generation. The majority at least.

You know the CG character renders of the Banjo and Mario games on N64? Well, Super Mario Galaxy and SMG2 look as good as those renders. I can't speak for Banjo though since the franchise is so different now.

In fact, I was looking at the Mario Galaxy case the other day and thinking about how the CG cover looks like the game itself.
