if you would also like gaming, then you should wait till E3 just a couple of days away.PSP2 could be announced.it would also be a great PMP

Lol, for gaming upgrade, I'm getting the 3DS, I am 90% sure. Sony might so something amazing that surprises me, but I wen with the DS this last gen, all while people were talking shit about it, and I am very much happy with it. I can't wait for the 3DS. The PSP2 might be great, but I can't live without my Nintendo games and I don't think I'll be buying two gaming systems.

Why not? I dual wield two handhelds, and it's amazing!  Now when you say you want a media centre do you want better video or better music?  If you go for music, you can go for a smaller device that plays videos and the video quality will be very good, just small.  If you're going for video even though I havn't used a Zune that would probably be the best option.  I personally use my PSP, when I need protable videos; cause of the size; it's got the biggest screen I've seen for any handheld and there are very good video conversion programs that handle practically everything for it (And other devices).

If your Zune is connected to the Xbox, and you want to watch something off of your zune it will be played in 480p.

The actual screen resolution of the zune is 480x272.

That is incorrect.  It will play over USB in whatever resolution the file is.

No, if your zune HD is connected to the Xbox, and if you have a HD video on there and you wanna play it, then it will be played in 480p.

Maybe over a computer it will be whatever resolution the video is but on Xbox its 480p.

Just curious, why do you think this?

Because i have a Zune HD and it says on www.zune.com

*Zune HD can play high-definition videos in high-definition when used with the Zune HD AV Dock (sold separately) and an HDMI video connection to a compatible HDTV.*

Who would buy that over priced it dock for $90 when i can use my 360 to do it for free? MS knows better than that.

I am asking, because I own one, and I do it all the time.  You should try it sometime, it works, I promise.

zune hd is a sensational music player... much better than ipods.

screen is amazing, best there is.

Zune software is a joy after itunes.

apps.... not so good. Lots of unofficial apps but not many from MS as of yet. This will improve in the next 12 months though.

kowenicki, since you're from the UK, may I ask a question?

Are you able to log into Zune marketplace? If I try to log in from the Zune Software on my PC, I always get the error message "Sorry, can't sign in right now". I'm afraid that's because of my IP address which is not from the US (I have imported a Zune HD and changed everything to US English on my Windows, so I'm out of ideas how to solve this problem). I was able to download firmware 4.5, though.

@OP: If you don't need apps, Zune HD gets my full recommendation.

You have to change your regional setting to US... that worked for me.   But this has to be done before you start the zune software... if you ran the zune setup before you changed location then you will need to do it again once the PC is US region .

If you want toi download anything such as apps then you will need to set up a Windows Live account with a US location.

This page is helpful... http://bbits.co.uk/blog/archive/2009/09/20/using-the-zune-hd-in-the-uk.aspx

Incidentally... this could all be academic as the Zune marketplace launches in the UK sometime this year in readiness for 7 phones (and possible Zune players)

Thanks, I'll take a look at that blog...

Problem is that I used to be able to log in, but now I always get that error message, even though I didn't change any system settings.

Mk, so I have been using my Zune HD for about 4 days, and I must say it is amazing. The screen is AMAZING. It makes regular LCD screens look dull in comparison. Sound quality is amazing, handles 320 kbps (CD-quality) excellently. The PGR game is amazing graphically, made all of my iPod Touch friends SUPER jealous, lol. The dock is great, but I don't think it's worth $90 (good thing I got it for free). It comes with an AC Adapter (norm. $30) though, which I LOVE, in the fact that charging is MUCH faster than USB. The UI of the Zune is really great. Wireless syncing is pretty cool, especially when a download finishes and you wanna listen to it but you're upstairs and don't feel like going to plug in your zune. The Dock is really small, and very portable, would be great for taking on a trip to a hotel or such. The brushed metal back doesn't get scratched like the ipod touch would, but I still might get a plastic cover for it, similar to the screen protector I got for $2 for the front half... The browser is good (Minus FLASH, I really wish flash would come to a PMP besides Android), but typing is a bit troublesome. I've gotten better as I go, but the autocorrect  pisses me off at time. As an example, I tried to google (yeah, suck it bing) "Let's get this party started - KoRn" and it kept Changing "KoRn" to "Open" -__- Maybe the Zune browser people have no musical taste or something....

Also, I haven't gotten to try to use the 720P out feature on the dock or the XBOX to settle the debate I caused in this forum, but I can't seem to even get a music video on it in HD... Wrong format or something... Anyone wanna recommend me format specifications? And I don't wanna buy a video just to try it out.
