Forums - Sony - Sony: We have code that makes PSP games unhackable for 60 days

30 days is quite a lot of you ask me. When SoulSilver released but couldn't be played on most flashcarts without freezing extremely often and keeps getting more frequent [once you hit 3 badges, the game was pretty much unplayable from what I understand], I was reading through a ton of forums just to see some reactions. The game took two weeks to get it fully running. It was amazing just how many people went out and bought it after just a week instead of waiting for a fix or getting one of the few flashcarts that actually could run it.

How can PSP games be pirated anyway when it uses UMD discs? A DVD burner dont use UMD discs right?

Hackers rip the game into an .ISO file onto the memory stick using a certain type of homebrew. Then all you needed was CFW that allowed the .ISO format to run on PSP.

So they use memory sticks kinda like cartridges? Then delete them for a new game from time to time?

Nope, you can have as many as your Memstick could hold plus all your other stuff like music, etc. The pirated games run just like PSN Store bought games.

memory stick was included in PS3 for multi-media not alike Nintendo's handhelds

and using memory stick to write games is far easier than cartridges

Wow, that's very convenient. No wonder piracy is big on PSP. Luckily it's not as easy to pirate X360 games. Not that easy on Wii either, right? I mean the Wii doesn't support memory stix rite?

My brother pirates Wii games. He says it takes 30 minutes for him to set up and the only sucky part is that you need to play the games off an external HDD. Atleast that's how he does it. He bought a 1TB HDD just for his Wii.

ITS very easy to pirate 360 games.as easy as PS2,just download and write on disc

the problem with Wii is that Nintendo always uses a different format from the established ones.

SO there less writers for their format type and if they are costly so you run it like on PSP

The Wii is like PSP where the physical drive writers aren't available widely

Good move imo....if it truly works then it might push users to actually go and buy the game without waiting for months, especially with all the blockbuster titles that are coming up
