Hackers rip the game into an .ISO file onto the memory stick using a certain type of homebrew. Then all you needed was CFW that allowed the .ISO format to run on PSP.

So they use memory sticks kinda like cartridges? Then delete them for a new game from time to time?

memory stick was included in PS3 for multi-media not alike Nintendo's handhelds

 

and using memory stick to write games is far easier than cartridges
