Forums - Microsoft - Alan wake Review. Selnor

myself to imaginary Selnor while opening the thread: "I presume you gave it a 10."
YEY, I was right.

Wow so first selnor admits he was wrong about the graphics and people attack him. Now he made a complete thread without comparing to PS3 games, well at least not "it has a better story than UC2" or "the lighting is better than KZ2" and people continue to attack him. People here really gotta grow up.

Every Xbox 360 exclusive will get 10/10 by Selnor.

If so, then I am extending Selnor an invitation to write review for my Goes-to-11 game review blog.  And no Selnor, you may NOT give games you a review an 11/10.  That is reserved for ME alone, and the few titles I really really enjoy.

The game is good...but 10/10? Really? Perfect game?

Perfect depite the complete lack of puzzles? Not a single one...

And perfect despite the combat which gets kinda repetitive? I've killed the same axe guy 100 times...

And despite the fact the game isn't very scary? Way too action oriented to be scary...

I'd say when everything is taken in to consideration (stellar visuals, good story, great gunplay mechanics, along with issues Ive described above), the game comes out with a score of 8.4/10 :)

Puzzles not only would ruin the flow of the game, but hinder the atmosphere. Puzzles in Elderwood? Makes no sense.

Also as I stated, Alan Wake is less repettive than any Silent Hill or Resi game by along way. And the action isn't that often. Resi4 or 5 has far more shooting for example. The game is less scary but more edge of your seat. It's designed to be disconcerting not jumpy. It's wonder about the story. It's an experience. I'd say when everything taken into consideration it's the only game this gen I couldnt stop thinking about until I finished it. The only game Ive ever seen my wife interested in storywise. To me thats a 10 right there.

Oh and to the known PS3 fans. Stay out of the thread if you have nothing worht daying. Metor 2033 I'll have a review for soon. And no Lost Planet 2 is boring as hell.

There is no game out that shows this many individual different dahdows ( And all shadows are of a massively high res ) all while you can see 2km in any distance. Your in a field. Trees cast shadows from the fireworks, cahracters cast shadows. But all while each individual firework is a light source.

You're the only one who says this, the only one.... sigh

Obviously being pathetic is just stupid. Dont bother posting if you can do nothing but ruin another 360 thread.

Of course there are glitches. Every game has some. Pathetic.

I Disagree, I bought Alan Wake , and Red Dead Redemption, on May 18th , the day the came out, I went into Gamestop only wanting to buy AW, and walked out with both AW and RDR, I have spent several hours on Alan Wake, the game is very Repedative , and gets boaring quickly, everytime its the same old, these dark guys comming at you with an ax, that you have to shine your flashlight at , then shoot. sometimes you get a flair gun, I am Sorry the game is a hugh let down for me, Graphics are average, Oh yah and a shotgun, but its all the same flashlight then shoot, also all the enemies are the same, So being in development for 6 years I had much higher expectations for the game, I am going back to Gamestop to trade it in for something else, On the other hand RDR AMAZING.

I'm really looking forward to getting back home to play it with my wife, since the little amount of time I did load it on my HDD and boot it up made me wanna play it....BAD! I've been doing the RDR thing, and it's fun, but I'm really looking forward to AW...great visuals and great story telling, thanks Selnor...good review!

I am on my 2nd playthrough. The shadows and lighting are amazing. Only once did I see a shadow clip like that pick. But not there.

EDIT:

There are some issues. But clearly they are not important. In this genre, all evryone needs to know is I found it to be the best by some way. less issues than any other horror/thriller title Ive played.

The review is your opinion, which there's nothing wrong with, but there are things I don't agree with.

On the talk of the "pinnacle of the genre", I wouldn't call it that, and I've played just about all there is to play in the genre. WAKE is a good game, that's all it really needed to be, but the best in the genre? Nah.

I won't go into specifics about visuals, but I think Gears 2 still has it beat.

Again, of course this your opinion (review) just giving my piece to those two areas.

And this is the icing on the cake.
